Was always bummed “Over” didn’t get more love. I see why it didn’t make the record. It wasn’t ready. But it was a great live track. The chorus shoulda been a pre chorus or bridge. Needed a proper chorus built out of the current bridge/outro. That line “you are a liar…I am the victim” was so so good. Those were fun days. A cassette of these demos got pass on to every high school kid in Mesa, Arizona. It was insane. Had to have been over 10k copies.

Wow… I never heard School before. With a few tweaks that track could have added a some much needed depth to Static Prevails. It’s a banger! A Shame Tom didn’t pull it together in time. I wonder if they ever released a newer recording of it? I miss Tom’s singing.

I’ve got their high school full length cd and a few clarity and bleed usa demos. But those are probably easy to find? My first band’s first show was with a Jimmy eat world side project with Jim Adkins called “I Ate The Sandbox” aka “Dung Heap” …yes it is possible to have a worse band name than JEW. My band’s name wasn’t much better “Torch The Wall” Dang… Zach’s drumming really improved since this demo.

The jacaranda are wet with color, and the heat is a great paint brush, lending color to our lives, and to the air, and to our faces; but I'm going to Alaska where there's snow to suck the sound out from the air. Up, yes, in the branches, the purple blossoms, go pale at the edges; there is meaning in the shifting of the sap, and I see in them traces of last year, but then they hadn't grown so strong, and their limbs were more like wires. Now they are cables. thick and alive with alien electricity, and I am going to Alaska, where you can go blind just by looking at the ground, where fat is eaten by itself just to keep the body warm. Because from where we are now, it seems, really, that everything is growing in a thousand different ways; that the soil is soaked through with old blood and with relatives who were buried here, or close to here, and they are giving rise to what is happening. Or can you tell me otherwise? I am going to Alaska, where the animals can kill you, but they do so in silence, as though if no-one hears them, then it really won't matter. I am going to Alaska. They tell me that it's perfect for my purposes.

Love hearing these 2 isolated tracks together....the basis of the song. You can really hear the nuances in Page's acoustic playing and all the emotional flourishes in Plant's vocals. Just astounding!

Hi John, hope you're doing well. Certainly happy to get a comment from one of the artists! I downloaded this from a Wordpress blog called killingtechnology. Great blog but it hasn't been updated in many years, and the original download link is now dead. Apparently this tape had surfaced a few years before (that was 10 years ago). The guy who ran the blog appears to be Pete Burns from England who runs a record label called Traqueto Records. Hopefully he still use the email address he listed and could give you more information.

Thing i love about this song is it's as close as Nick ever sounded to angry. In fact, speed it up, play it on distorted electric, put some drums under it and it's almost a punk song. Can certainly imagine it being peformed as such. Who knows, maybe he saw what was coming??

What a brilliant song, they all are, his ‘final 5’. I wish he could’ve lived to see through this album and given us more of his poetic words and music. Should’ve been as heard as Dylan in his time.
