I have noticed that as an Evony server evolves people play less anyway. The developers rely on newer players to keep afloat because that’s where the egos are and people are still trying to prove themselves. Many players spend incorrectly in new servers as well. Old servers have lost interest and they’re not spending at all. They just login here and there and bot the rest. It’s not affecting their lives like it does for the first two years for players with impulse control issues (80% of Evony players).

I have learned and frequently state, "Real life first" I have learned rather then waste money on getting ahead in the game quickly? To take my time developing and 7 day truce when I am busy with real life. Usually between Tuesday - Thursday so that I am constantly truces during SVS or KE if I have real life that must be attended to.

Dude, you should never apologize for being proud of making moves to overcome an addiction and get control of your life. I quit evony almost a year ago now. I also slowly stopped watching or reading about evony, which is why it took me like 5 months to find this 😂. I recently participated in a research project at our local university on gaming addictions (part of their behavioural addictions study). I think it's really important people like you speak up, be public, tell others what gaming is like for some people. They had never heard of Evony, the more I spoke about it...the bf's that made sure I was there at least 4 hours a week, the grinding for resources to level up etc, the All Star competitions, Chalons, the way ladder packs are presented to hook people, the monetary system set-up to help people disconnect with the reality of how much they are spending etc etc etc., the more the researchers were checking all the boxes on their list and got more and more interest in the dynamics between players and "customer support". People don't seem to want to believe that you don't get what you pay for, you don't get anything that you own or have a legal right to, everything is owned by the game and can be taken away and deleted at anytime.I like to check in with my old alliance from time to time and man, the game just kept going down that ugly rabbit hole of greed. I don't judge people who still play, I feel bad for them though because I think they deserve to be treated so much better than the way those developers treat them. I met some cool people, had a great time, achieved some cool things in their competitions, but I am no longer locked into their cycle of customer dissatisfaction and feelings of "obligation" like I was a year ago.

I used to be the guy that only talked about himself. To get out of that I made a promise in my mid twenties that I would never mention myself in a conversation until I have asked the person I'm talking to at least three questions about themselves. It made me pay more attention to what they were saying so I could follow up with other questions. I wish I had this skill in my teens but better late than never. I used it on gaming, I would ask multiple questions about things totally unrelated to the game. People often sent me messages just to talk. I do the same thing at work. A lot of my managers and coworkers say that I'm the only one they talk to at work and the conversation isn't about work. It's a great skill because there is a Pavlovs dog aspect to work. If all you do is call people to complain they will get conditioned to stop answering the phone. However if you want something I have found it better to call and talk about one of their hobbies or something eventually they will ask how you are doing, I always say, I was going to ask about getting something but it's not important your fishing trip was more exciting. 9 times out of 10 you get moved to the front of the line. I changed jobs a few months ago, he had my resume and knew I was qualified, the job interview was more of a formality. So I spent the entire interview asking him questions about his life and all sorts of things when I walked out he didn't know anything more about me than when I walked in but ygot the job

For people who are using the game to deal with their existential pain, they can't just quit. If they do, it will just be replaced with some other maladaptive coping strategy. But, awareness proceeds change. So your efforts are not in vain. Someone will be open to it somewhere. And if you plant seeds, they may grow. Or even like spores, they will lie dormant and then become active when the environment is right.
@cindy615 Жыл бұрын
Had to go to sleep. Could not stay up for this one but watching the replay. Great stuff. And I'm getting further and further away from the game. And thank you for sharing about your family. As far as people with addiction, you just have to love them as they are. Don't shame them. That just drives them further into addiction. Addiction is not their problem. Shame and unresolved wounds from the past are the problem. Those things have to be worked out and healed first and the addiction will fall away.

I'm not a psychologist but I have a feeling this has something more broadly to do with how men are treated in society now a days. I know women play games yeah, yeah, yeah, 99% are men. Men spend money on lots of stupid things. I look at only fans and I don't get it. Porn on the internet is free, why are guys spending tons of money on only fans, these games I believe are a lot the same.

Biggest spenders on my server were women. And everyone is treated badly. Men and women. Just in different ways.
@rebelrrp Жыл бұрын
@@cindy615 are you seriously trying to say that women out spend men on Evony? Across the entire game you honestly think women are the big spenders, or is it possible that your server was the one server in a thousand where women out spend the guys?
@cindy615 Жыл бұрын
@@rebelrrp I'm not saying who is spending more. Just saying that lots of people spend a lot. If you want to see how far you have come watch videos from miser or Genghis. I quit evony about 6 months before you. It was my first play to win game and I spent a few thousand and was still not very strong. I didn't like the fact that I either had to worship some rich prick or spend a ton of money so that I wouldn't get smashed and I just quit. But if you watch the videos that others put out evony has added so much stuff to keep buying that you can't even recognize the game you played. When I was playing you only took one general to battle with you. Now it's two generals, you have to touch some lady's belly everyday for special hearts, and on and on it goes. I still log in about every 6 months because my server is now a nap server, and get my troops out of the hospital attack someone and zero them thenog out again. I am stunned that this long after the game started the same people are still logging in and playing non stop, all day. I am glad you got away from the game and are doing better I understand why people play and it's for a lot of reasons. I don't think that a lot of the people playing would be out doing something more productive if they weren't playing the game. I started playing because I had a lot of down time at work and got drawn in by fake ads I saw playing other games to waste time. So the time I was wasting just got moved from one game to another. I was living in North Dakota and it was winter time so there wasn't much to do, but once it warmed up a little bit I was going outside again and quit the game. I have no evidence for this but I think that a lot of guys that have decided not to get married and have a family and have just decided to "go their own way" see more value in a game they can spend a lot of time on. I'm not being critical of them I just think it's a sign of the times.

Since Covid, I was super hooked to Evony, leader of alliance, spending a lot of money, spending so much time, I even dragged my husband to play with me and we were the evony couple enjoying time playing together! Bla bla bla…. Well, after I saw your quitting video…. It was an eye opener to me! What was I doing with my time? Living in a virtual reality and missing out so much happening on my real life! 6 months ago I left evony for good… my husband did to, he is playing back now 😞 but I understand it is a personal process… I hope he gets to understand the damaging effects when it gets out of control in your life….but I don’t get fooled again…. I am happy you made those videos because God talked to me through you… anyways! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you have a wonderful 2024!
