An absolute controlled singing. The voice posses Gundula. It is so unbelievable nice I do not find words.

She is sensational here..remember my first hearing in Munich in 1967 an absolute eye opener since she had not yet go to the MET in NY coming with Von HarajansRing much later as Seiglinder in Munich it was great Mozartean Roles like the Countess in Figaro etc.

Kann man dieses Mitschnitt nicht akustisch verbessern, bearbeiten? Janowitz ist eine der von mir am meisten bewunderten Sängerinnen, Musikerinnen überhaupt! Diese schlichte Anmut, in der Interpretation, ist hier einmalig!

This is a small part of François Reichenbach Dicumentary „La Naicansse d‘un opera“, shot at 1967 - Reichenbach made some concert movies with Karajan (Brandenburg 3). It was available back in 2008 at a British Karajan webpage, an on a French one(both on Demand)

In her generation, you almost never saw a singer whose jaw shook as she sustained a note. Nowadays, I'm surprised when I don't see a singer who doesn't look like she's chewing as they sing.

Gundula Janowitz was wonderful in Mozart. There is an ineffable quality. A must to see here on KZbin is her Ach ich fuhl's from 1964 - amongst the finest singing I have ever heard and certainly the best Pamina. I have always liked Karl Bohm as a conductor of Mozart too.

wow, except for the lovely pianissimo at the 5 minute mark.... I don't love her voice! It's just my opinion, but her voice is too thin and a bit metallic for my liking - but that's what makes the musical world go around!

Gundula Janowitz is my favorite Soprano. Her voice is heavenly. Her 4 last songs, Die walküre, Beethoven 9 mov 4, le nozze di figaro, die fledermaus, cosi fan tutti, are some of the recordings that I so wholeheartedly cherish.

Gundula Janowitz actually makes a better Gerhilde than Sieglinde. Heck, she sang Gerhilde at the Wiener Staatsoper in the 1960's. Her Sieglinde lacks depth and chestiness for her crystal-clear, silvery lyric soprano voice.
