100LL is NOT kerosene. JET A is basically kerosene. 100LL is gasoline with blue dye and a LOT of lead (LL is a huge misnomer) to increase octane/reduce detonation. Also engines DO NOT have to be replaced at a specific hour. Maybe your costs would come down if you understood what you need to pay for?

you did the prime in a weird order than usual Usually throttle is full forward and mixture full forward then prime then throttle back to 1/4" then pump to boost right as we start I think is you made this correction, it would start quicker

Private pilot here. You've detailed well the associated costs. Two others to consider are depreciation and annual personal property taxes. The later of which is brutal depending upon where you live. It's a grim fact of aviation life, being truly honest and open, that it was NEVER meant to be universally affordable or even attainable. And for any young person contemplating this arena as a career I would advise them to seek other avenues quickly. The frustrations are many and unending, the financial costs are stratospheric, and the payback is slow and often meager. Cheers.

Except you need fly frequently 13000 us dolar a year just in cost is too much. And if you have overall maintenance engine every ,1500 hours. This cost will burn your pocket. 😅

You put kerosene (!) in your 172 ?? Avgas , pal is NOT Kerosene. JET FUEL IS !!. Let me know next time you fly with both tanks full of kerosene.. I;ll call the papers to witness the crash when the engine quits .

I am seeing a lot of corrosion in the wheel wells, what type of corrosion are you looking for, 310s are magical it will look like there's no corrosion anywhere, until you start stripping, and then the shock starts, exhausts manifolds develop cracks,

Pretty plane, my absolute favorite GA aircraft. What model is this? Except for not having the sexier three blade props (hey, gotta look good in the hangar), your plane ticks all the boxes for my aesthetic requirements! :) But those props look just fine when the engines are spinning - prolly look even better considering how much a three-blade prop would cost. If that mod is even allowed on this 310… Well, nice work! How many hours on each engine, and on the airframe? Yeah, from what you had shown, corrosion seems negligible. I just hope nothing rusted inside the 470s, but short of a weekend (kidding) of splitting the crankcase, cross your fingers, eh? Is this your new toy, or are you getting it prepared for a sale?

What if you buy a plane and rent it out for other pilots that need for instance to making flying hours to get at least the minimum that is required. You can also have pilots that want to earn some money and fly with passengers and need a plane for that so they pay you a hourly fee so you can earn a littlebit each time to cover costs. If you buy a more modern plane with digital screens and Garmin 1000 I assume you can fly IFR with ILS instead only VFR flying with a typical 172. Buying a much more modern Cessna can be very expensive but I think if you also rent it out many pilots will use it for training flights. So instead you make a huge investment and pay yearly a lot of money for maybe 100 flying hours. Is owning and automatically renting out the best solution to keep the costs at a bare minimum? You want at the end not only the fixed costs back but also a profit. I would prefer going for flying a Cessna with Garmin 1000 so you have much more awareness where you fly. You can make a flight plans, fly even if the weather isn't great at some sectors and you can trust your instrument's to get not lost because planning and using only paper cards and something happens if you are at an unfamiliar place if you take for instance a long 5 hour flight. So a Cessna equipped with modern equipment and using a Flypad you don't have to be afraid if reading a paper chart isn't your strongest point where navigation is a very important point to be able to fly. But relying somewhat on digital navigation systems and have some weak points navigate just a map scanning visual to know where you are on thr map, so using modern systems that let you see where you are. A comparison everyone is driving with navigation and don't know how to use a paper map correctly. Is having some navigating weak points a problem to get your private pilot license?

Great thoughts Its not that simple This Cessna actually has a gns480 with waas and this plane is IFR As far as renting the things you have to consider is the additional cost of insurance The increased wear and tear on the plan and the increased maintenance costs associated with the additional hours put on the plane. It’s very possible but just things to consider Thanks for your comments s

And when your insurance company finds out you are running a commercial operation ( renting an airplane for money , carrying passengers for hire, etc.) instead of a single user private pilot , watch your premiums and restrictions go right out of sight . Unless of course you don't tell them. and that little minor detail will probably cause your claim to be denied when your friend damages or crashes your airplane . .

Beautiful airplane but there is certain to be rust corrosion around exposed to air 'dry of oil' camshaft and follower and some cylinder bore surfaces, unless the engines were correctly inhibited and sealed for longterm storage. Starting them without stripping and corrosion removal will just seal the engines' fates as permanent 'boat anchors'.
@ronjon7942
@ronjon7942 5 ай бұрын
Is there a procedure for rejuvenation after being stored improperly over the long term? That doesn’t involve splitting the cases or pulling the cylinders?
@skippmclovan1135
@skippmclovan1135 5 ай бұрын
@@ronjon7942 A borescope inspection can show the condition inside each cylinder and it is possible to see some smaller patches of exposed camshaft areas that may or may not indicate any rust corrosion from prolonged dryness and condensation moisture. To put your life in two good engines to get you safely off the ground into the future, you really do need to firmly establish the internal condition. To do this with surety you really need to strip them down. Otherwise it's a step into the unknown.
