Last Friday, with a storm approaching (and having to make a dump run) I grabbed a rod and stopped by Briery. Stepping out on one of the docks, I grabbed a white choppo since there were so many waves. On about the 3rd cast, a 3 pounder crushed it. And then the rain began moving in. Not a bad 10 minutes of fishing!

@michaelc8606 that's awesome. There is some good fish in there and you don't have to be far from the dock to catch them.

@bobbychatterback appreciate it! My friend had logo made for me a while back and I honestly just do the channel for fun so hadn't taken time to incorporate it, but it looks good.

Awesome. Actually had my best luck there with top water Lunker Lures in chartreuse and chartreuse spinner baits. 6 and 7 pounders were common with my biggest a citation 8.7 lbs.

I you fish the James quite a bit... is the center lagoon in Dutch Gap Conservation Area accessible by boat from the James? I usually stick to the Chick, and I want to try some new places.

If you are referring to back behind the power plant, yes. You can ride through there. You want to be semi careful. There are some sunken barges that are not very deep and stick out the water. But if you check a map you can see route to get back there safely.

I went to college up there back around 1998-2000 time frame. Spent many evenings out there bank fishing after classes. I haven't been back in probably 20 years... Is it still considered a big fish lake?

I don't think the teen sized bass are necessarily in there, at least in significant numbers, but I've consistently caught 5-6 range over the past couple years. I only go 2-3 times a year and usually manage one 5+ on a trip or 2. I know some have caught much larger lately, but it's not quite like the early 2000s.
