They did use silver and nickel under plating through the years.

And how is the modern fl link playing, and what kind of a chamber it has?, i'm currently playing on a stm NY with a 5 tipopening, i have other mpcs with 6* opening, so i'm thinking of upgrading the link, only which? The FL or a NY

I find the large chamber of the NY a bit of a struggle to make lively and that also correlates with larger tip openings for me. But if you are used to the NY chamber and like it I'd say stick with it as you go to a 6* because thats not huge. However the important measurement for me is Table to floor height and the FL at 0.60" is not so small that it will have a drastic change from your current piece. I suspect yours is about 0.620" or larger due to the larger chamber. So if you want the similar character stick with NY but if you want to get a bit more difference (livelier and brighter I think) then the FL is a really good shout. Also Headwindmusic.co.uk have them a lot cheaper than anywhere else. EDIT just looked and the smallest they have is a 7.

@@Saxlicker first of all, thanks for this informative answer. Next to my NY, i also have a hardrubber mpcs, something similar like a custom dark, a la Jody Jazz, only this one needs a little refacing, is what i suspect, and with a 6* tipopening. Therefore i am thinking, and leaning towards the Florida. About the NY, i novice that, with different voicing, i can get the most georgeous subtones, and when altering the voicing towards the softpallet, i can get a nice buzz. I do only play for 3 years now, so your Lively maybe means a higher level of beiing bright than mine

@@frankversteeg4159 Maybe I should point out that I like all the mouthpieces in my video, none are too bright for me (like a dukoff D chamber, Gaurdala Studio etc) and none are dull and stuffy either. The FL is amongst the brighter examples in my video but it still has some nice core. If I understand correctly of voicing towards the soft pallet for buzz and away from it for sub tones then you will not need so much movement towards the soft pallet for the buzz on the FL. It will still sub tone nicely as you make the relevant adjustments so maybe you should try that mouthpiece. I see Thomann have a 6* at £309 not too bad. Most importantly give what ever you buy some good time to adjust to it. Enjoy 👍

Thanks. I needed a good clip with the Otto link vintage 8 and you did it so well. I have a similar setup to yours (headphone, music stand, etc.) and I bet many others do too. Thanks for sharing that as well. You sound good.
