How did you find the hotel? Lifts, noise etc? We have this booked with a high floor just wodnering hoe all that was.
@laurierkenАй бұрын
Hotel was really nice. Noise is always there but up high it's like............ Ambient. Like a wind or something. WIth the window closed it's not an issue. The lifts (Elevators? You're from the UK I bet...) When you approach the hotel, there is an entrance, you'd expect a bustling lobby and the like, that isn't it. The lift takes you up to the 11th floor and that is where the 'sky lobby' is. So expect just a smaller nondescript opening with (I think) 3 lift doors. Hotel is genuinely nice. Breakfast there is expensive for what you get, there are other places to go. I hope you have as great a trip as we did.

I’ve enjoyed all of your bora bora videos. I will be visiting in March and am intrigued by the pontoon boat rental. After returning can you say it was a good experience? Any tips? Where did you pick up the boat? Damage deposit? If so any trouble getting it back? I hope you can answer some of these nagging questions. Thank you
@laurierken2 жыл бұрын
It was a highlight of the trip. We rented half day (Wife’s choice), I’da gone the whole day. They pick you up and bring you there, they provide a cooler and will drive you the short distance to a small market, get pop and snacks. There is a credit card hold on it. They provide a cell phone in the event of trouble, and getting back was pretty easy. La Plage was an absolute joy. I hope your vacation is off the hook memorable. You gotta sing the theme from Gilligan’s Island while sailing. Just gotta.
@The1980toyota2 жыл бұрын
This sounds absolutely perfect. Especially the cooler and the pit stop at the market. I think I may record the Gilligan’s Island theme and play it on a speaker, lots of people payed a lot of money for peace and quiet so I won’t ruin that by singing lol. May I ask the name of the company you used as it looks exactly what I am looking for. Thank you

@@Ceebo66 Take it slow when you get there. You spent a lot of time and money *getting* there, enjoy it. We were in Tahiti for 3 days, Mo'orea a week, then a week in Bora Bora. i estimate the pontoon is prolly 20hp. (UPDATE: i saw one video which showed it as a 9.9 - that explains the 10mph speed) @ 20 feet LOA. Why would Le Meridian be much superior? I get that some bungalows are west facing - and thus - sunset. I'll definitely rent a pontoon - but hopefully with more HP.

Given the surroundings we really didn't care that much about speed, it was pretty nice there. Got out, tossed the anchor, swam, had drinks. Given what I know now, we'd have rented it for the full day.

Does a poop deck mean something? Sounds funny!
@laurierken8 жыл бұрын
+Kid Chef Technically, the very back of the boat, the roof over the very back cabin is known as the poop deck, the etymology is French "poupe" or derived from Latin, "pupis". Hope that helps. The restaurant is 5 star, and if you really *are* a kid chef, try making your family a conch (pronounced conk) chowder. The Poop Deck's chowder if off the hook. It was amazing good. And I don't usually subscribe to channels, but it looks like you have some good recipes, I'm a cook myself. I'll be trying some of yours. Peace.

My deck looks the same way after using this crap. What is the best and easiest way to strip this stuff from the deck which is huge?
@laurierken9 жыл бұрын
drumssteve Olympic sells a 'spray-on-old-stain-bubbles-up-use-a-pressure-washer-to-take-it-off' product. I can't remember the name. It does work, but only partially. Then you use a floor sander, then a small orbital hand sander to get into the corners. It is a pain in the ass. and in between the boards will always be funky ( )( ) type of thing. An accumulation of A) gummy old Behr stain, atmospheric dirt, Beagle fur (in my case), and organic tree matter. I found a 12" coarse Sawzall blade used by hand clears that shit out nice. Again, tedious, but the end result is nice. And staying away from anything that says Behr.

The Amazing thing is that a TV station in California reported that "Consumer Reports" named "Behrs Premium Plus" is rated the best . I restained my deck last May (May 2013). Pressure washed, sanded, pressure washed again, let dry for a week and my deck looks excactly like the one in the video. Home depot took my review off because I said they were selling Sh*t for Shinola( I substituted Sh*t with "Stuff" in the review) and I claimed they and Behr were laughing all the way to the bank as people were loading this crap in their cars. I should have known, after putting the first coat on the deck(it requires two) we took a break for the day, I placed the top back on the 5 gallon bucket of Behr Premium plus and went to firmly tamp down the lid with my foot. I slipped , the lid flipped and my foot went into the half filled bucket. My wife laughed hysterically, I was mortified, not only did I have stain on my shoe, leg(i was wearing shorts) but I just wasted a gallon of very expensive stain and what wasn't on my leg was killing my grass at the bottom of the deck stairs. I immediately grabbed the hose and tried to save the grass. It turned into a white milky liquid and soaked into the soil,I turned the hose on myself and the "stain" washed off easier than pollen on a car. My kids crayola finger paint was harder to wash off than Behr. I should call crayola and ask them if they have cedar tone finger paint. After reading many reviews and watching videos like yours I am wondering if a class action suit is a possibility and have behr pull this crap from yhe shelves
@mangofossil10 жыл бұрын
pressure washing damages the wood, weakens the surface so the stain won't last as long.. that's probably your problem..
@swiftyupser110 жыл бұрын
It does spread the grain apart I agree, but that is how you get the acumalated dirt,grime,pollen.tree sap,bird poo, and whatever else may grace your deck out from between the grain. If not you will be staining over all the aformentioned stain repellant that nature has thrown at your deck. Obviously you dont high pressure wash the wood so it starts to splinter a nice 6" wide spray at about 150-200 psi with a deck detergent will surfice. Also waiting for the wood to dry so the grain has a chance to return to normal state prior to applying the first coat of stain. All of whch I did. The product Behr is selling is not stain it is latex/acylic paint, it applies like paint, it smells like paint, and hardens like paint. which is fine if Behr would call it paint but they don't. With the wood expanding and contracting in various climates the latex acrylic expands also. But with the abiliity of latex/acrylic to only sit on top of the wood and not soak into the wood at some point it starts to sluff off. As with many that have used this product mine lasted approx. 9 months. My only option now is to High pressure wash(strip at 500-1000psi) my deck with harsh chemicals that without doubt will damage the wood, the enviroment, and my back.
