What does -88 and +88 mean? Also, how many different weight classes are there for 8-9 year olds that are white/grey? Is it the same throughout the US?
@kstoneathletics2 ай бұрын
@@FakeNewsCNN the day of the tournament -88 means he weighed in below 88 pounds. He also did the +88 division which mean 88 and over there is no limit. Most of them for 8/9 year olds have a division usually every ten pounds starting over 50 pounds. Depends on the tournament but is usually a chart on their website that shows the divisions for the age brackets.

Guard pulling is for pussies who can’t get takedowns, it’s like only slightly less soy than butt scooting.

Sorry for the cuts, but uncut these videos usually are just to long. All of the cut outs however do not have anything significant happening for either competitor.

At first, I was super impressed with his talent. However, It's clear from the timeline you sandbagged his belt progression. 1 year ago he was a white belt with 3 stripes and is now a grey black? Grey/white, solid grey, and now grey/black?!?! Each one should be an 8-month minimum. It's sad to see gyms do this. It damages the sport but especially the tournaments.
@kstoneathletics10 ай бұрын
Appreciate the feedback. All gyms do it differently. Some look at timeframes, show up a few weeks/months in a row get a stripe or two. His gym has 1 belt ceremony a year. There are not any stripes or belts given during that year. There are no stripes for just showing up. The coach sees where the progression of the athlete is at the end of the year and gives stripes/belts dependent on where he believes they are. Yes after his first full year he did skip from white belt to Grey/Black at his first belt ceremony as this is where his coach believed he was skill wise. If he were to be around the 8-month minimum as suggested he would still only be a grey/white or solid grey and that would definitely be sandbagging. November of this year would be 2 full years into BJJ with a 4 month break for football season, so 20 months in he is at Grey/Black. The open gym time and results from tournaments probably factored into the coach making this decision. The Belt ceremony next month he probably moves up again out of the grey belt bracket but we will see what his coach believes. The sandbagging of his belt progression though, it is the exact opposite. If he were to still be in the white/grey division for the coming up year then we fully agree that would be sandbagging.

Thanks for posting! Question from someone who's kids just started BJJ, what did the first boy in white do wrong to instantly get arm bared when blue pulled guard? Is it that he put his arm forward onto blue's chest, and should have put them on knees?
@kstoneathletics Жыл бұрын
He left his arm exposed. And by staying a little more upright made it very easy to bring the leg over. If he would have smashed down or gotten his arm out right away probably wouldn’t have been in that situation. Always a good thing to be first that initial setup. Whatever you want to do, do it quicker than the other person so they have to react and play from behind basically.
