The Black Shadow Lighting Wrench looks prime. After finishing a strike and load in of two productions I really wish I had that tool. Adding right to the arsenal. Not to mention, it'll come in handy for rigging and flies.

Thanks, for the demo, appreciated. Not convinced the fader is doing Its job. Had an older version 6 plus years ago, and it wouldn't fade either. All my fixtures are chauvet... I also find the speed fader inconsistent. Stepping back to for some fresh air. Will do some dead simple chases with just floods to confirm my suspicions. Also tried the tap button... same thing not seeing a clear connection with timing for the chases... it appears simple enough.

As a in-house DJ, I really enjoy bringing the audience along with me through the songs. The better I get, the more of a reaction I get. It's priceless.

Good tips. I would add that you should also check on skintones, not just on a white wall. Two whites from different fixtures can look close enough on white, but wildly different on actual objects or people

I love LightKey, and use it for a couple different venues, but struggling to get a Blizzard AutoBahn 8 artnet controller to connect to it. We got it for a theater in order to have enough dmx capability to run movers and the stage lighting with. We knew it was an older device, but had heard they were rock solid and a good choice for permanent installations that have to interface with outside acts coming in with their own gear and controllers. That all said, despite setting it up how I would most other artnet interfaces, LightKey just does not see it, despite seeing the activity light go nuts when trying to poll the network for finding it. Have you ever put an AutoBahn8 with LightKey? If so, how'd you get it to see it?

Something doesn’t seem right on the Maestrodmx. Is the audio level input level correct in the system settings it seem low? My Maestro is very reactive on the lights using 1.32 firmware. Also you should try it again after the next 1.4 releases in a couple of weeks where you have static mover control.

A problem I run into often is trying to get cheap pars to spread their beam more - wax paper has sufficed in that regard but I agree it sucks a lot of the fixtures output. I tend to hang a lot of backlights in designs, and have more often put these gel style diffusion filters in just to hide the individual LEDs on cheap fixtures from an audience - sometimes helps the color to mix too. Love the videos!!

Horrible video. I’m halfway through the video and we’re still on “what do I want this lighting to do” it’s so hard to get to information. Great camera. Great audio. Great setting. Great production. Everybody puts too much into those things but information is not there. I’d prefer just a guy with a camera phone that really comes with INFORMATION! And then the “free guide” at the end. I almost knew that was coming. No information then try to promote the free guide. I’m almost pissed

"OMG!!!!!!" "FINALLY!" a person that explains how to "wind" cable correctly and explains why, briefly, and it can be any kind of cable: Home Speaker Wire, Power Cords or leftover wire. He mentioned it's because of the way the wire "Bursts" into the World. In deeper detail it's because as the Copper or Aluminum strand comes out of the final or intermediary extrusion die it's still red hot and immediately wound onto a spool where it cools creating a curl. Not to mention in the Extrusion process as the billet, a large block of metal, is heated and extruded many times, it gets all kinds of twisted . . . and not as in "Sister". Then as further manufacturing processes continue, adding other wires to a bundle or Mesh Grounding around the outside then the rubber jacket, the cable is then put back on a spool with other things that have a curl and are probably warm. Thus the coil. You see it when you drop a spool of wire or solder. I learned the hard way during tear down, Center Stage: "Led Zeppelin", as I started to wrap a mic cord around my arm. A giant "NO!" rang out from almost every corner of the stadium . . . and still echoes in my head every time I go to wind a cable. "Kudos! my Friend!" 🥳 One additional tip: When I "tie" off my cables I use about enough of the tail end of the cable to circle the loop 1.5 times. Then I just gently wrap that around the coil making a "snake" like wrap around it and be sure to capture the loose connector. Then tuck the wrap connector into the bundle. If there isn't enough, shorter cable, I just weave it into a loop. Nice, clean, sturdy and it does not harm to the cable itself in anyway.

@LearnStageLighting Thanks so much... but I have a question on splitters. The have an 'Output Link' port, when should and shouldn't I use that? For example. We are coming from our DMT controller to a splitter, then 4 cables from that, 3 go to daisy chained fixtures but 1 is going to another Splitter, should I instead use the 'Output Link' on the first splitter to go to the next? Thanks!

I am using these cheap Chinese moving heads since 2016, seems that only one factory built and then dozens of re sellers add their own names on it. I have some still running after eight years and no problem at all. Noticed that the old ones are more heavy than the new ones. The problem is this one: when the power is off, you can move manually the head in any direction, tilt, up and down, turn, left and right and nothing happens. But if you accidentally touch the head while it is turning, the belt stops and the gears (motor or the rotary gear) keep moving. That makes the full movement and stop compromised. The head then will turn half degrees of what it supposed to do, if you have it to 540 degrees, it will stop at 180 degrees, and so on. My question is, does somebody knows the steps to put it back as original? I tried, I removed the belt, moved a few teeth of the gear and put it back but seems not working. I researched internet for solutions but it seems to be a dead end. Will be fine is somebody found or have a solution and post it here, thanks.

I am starting a band that will start out playing small clubs. I want to seperate us from other bands by having some moving lights and want to add dramatics to our show. We dont have any lights now. We will have to work on a budget. Also how can this work NOT hiring a light guy (automate)? You need to do some on site, with a band in small-med size clubs. Its visually better for most to see the actual stage application.

The answer is to use the reflective surfaces of the walls, ceiling, etc. Even a reflective floor will uplight onto performers. One big advantage of front lights is that they lessen the flattening of facial features. They are also great if performers are wearing hats.
