In your opinion what are the weaknesses of the 390? I have a ktm690 and a beta 200 but i really want to do the tour of Idaho but i live in western NC so I do a lot of similar riding as you. I looking for a bike i could do that trip on and enjoy here.
@Pman47474 ай бұрын
I think the 390 would be a perfect bike for that. I've rode all sorts of different terrain on it and it does wonderful. I have even ridden it to work and back a few times as well (7 miles of backroads) and it does great. I don't think you would want be cruising down the highway for an extended period of time without changing gearing but it works just fine. It's practically street legal out of the box too. The only weakness for me is when it comes to dead engine starts in harescrambles (takes a few seconds to light up) and the fact that it doesn't come with a cooling fan from the factory, which is not a big deal really as they are easy to install and not that expensive. I would also recommend getting a bigger fuel tank if you plan on doing the tour of Idaho on it. Oh, and if you plan to put pannier bags on it, some makeshift heat shields for the exhaust would be much needed. Cheers!

In the '80's a small group of riders known as the Top of Texas Dirt Riders, from Pampa TX leased 10,000 acres of land near Turkey TX. We leased it with the intent of having our own enduro on the High Plains Enduro Circuit, and the Texas State Championship Enduro Circuit. We were successful. But it was quite an undertaking for our small group of ten. After a couple of years it became more than our group could handle, then the Post Enduro Assocation made it the epic event it is today. Incredible riding area, with incredible memories!

But no I haven't made any modifications to the suspension other than raising the forks in the triple clamps a bit. I also run a few clicks STIFFER than the race settings on the KYB setup sheet found on Betas website. For just trail riding and putting around, it is quite stiff. I feel like its perfect for me during a race however. I weigh about 165 lbs.

Great to watch. That Beta soundtrack is fantastic. I’ve heard beta’s may not be as agile as some competitors in tight stuff. What’s your feeling on that?
@Pman4747 Жыл бұрын
@@VignesLVG I would agree it is not as agile as some other bikes (steering radius gets cut short due to the forks hitting the radiators). I was able to modify it to work better and i have no issues. On super tight corners, I have learned to slide into them or pivot turn if needed. At high speeds, it is more stable than any other bike I've rode. However, they did fix that issue on the 24 models.

Looking at your older videos looks like you came off a 250xc? I’ve been thinking of moving from my te300 to a 390. How do you like the 390 vs the 2 stroke?
@Pman4747 Жыл бұрын
The 390 is a whole different animal compared to the 250xc. I still have the 250xc but can't seem to get off the 390. So much fun to ride. Smooth as butter, plenty of power, not as fast as the 250 but I am faster on it. Doesn't beat me up as bad either on a 2 or 3 hour race. It really shines in corners and the rough stuff. I would definitely recommend one. Keep in mind they weigh more, require more maintenance, and get a little hotter when you are going slow. Oh, and your 2 stroke friends will all make fun of you!! But they can't keep up...
