I guess it depends on the condition of the cuffs
@johnabrams8148 Жыл бұрын
@@MagicofAlexo It was very difficult to do. But it was very cool because you did not need anything to escape, like rope ties, a straightjacket, most of the time from locks and chains because ppl can be directed, and they do not know what they are doing and thumbcuffs. I also had an old steamship trunk and if I slapped the inside the lock would pop open on the outside, again nothing was needed to escape. You gave me a fantastic idea....thanks. Maybe I will do it in 2026 the 100th anniversary of Houdini`s passing. BTW I bet they will need to block off the road in Queens on Halloween that year.

I uploaded a 3D print Stl file of the toggle you used. Much cheaper. It's on thingiverse as thing - 4791942. In a pinch you can use a pen as well. - I also made a video showing the 3d print option in action.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKGngWZnbc2berc

Alex, another great video review! I'm surprised you didn't include the Shimada tape; any reason why not; do you have it? I would presume you must. Did Johnny Thompson do a tape? I'm trying hard to remember.... I cheered out loud at 3:16 on the timeline, where you said: "... if you know what that is, good for you; and if you don't know what it is, look it up..." - YES!!! Like you, I too am life-long student, and I think magic would be a lot better off today if people took a more scholarly and studious approach to learning their craft by doing deep research with books and videos; absorbing all they can, from everyone the can. If you'd like to swap reference material lists on dove magic, send me a PM; we might be able to help each other out.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I briefly talked about the Shimada video pointing out how hardball the copyright warning on it is, but it's a great one. I don't think Johnny Thompson ever did a video on dove magic. Glad you liked the Slydini reference. This was kinda in my "know it all" phase but I wasn't as bad as many others. Glad you like these videos!

@@MagicofAlexo Life happens, LOL! You don't come off like a Know-it-all in the least Alex. I know how much time you've put into studying, because I've done it too. You are very matter-of-fact, and your opinion is supported by your diligent research; so nothing to excuse yourself for there my friend. I just scored some old lecture notes from 1980 by a Canadian dove worker named, Mephisto, who was touring and lecturing at that time; and, I finally scored a copy of Encyclopedia of Dove Magic Volume IV, of which only 300 copies saw print - it only took me 25 years to find a copy to complete the book series. So like you, when the VHS Tapes started coming out - Shimada was the first one I got, and it was like $45 back in the day! - then later, followed by VHS, and then, DVDs, at each stage, I began buying them all. So I collect the books, the lecture notes, and the tapes/dvds. It seemed to me, each video had one good thing going for it - except Ian Adair's - or, one specific effect it highlighted better than the others. It's great communicating with someone else who is as into studying as I am. PM me if you'd like to swap lists.

@@BaronMcCausland I'll brag a lil bit in saying I have the entire Encyclopedia of Dove Magic series and Volume 4 is signed by Ian Adair lol
@BaronMcCausland3 жыл бұрын
@@MagicofAlexo - Nice. I could never find out what was really in Vol 4, and I was really hesitant to bite money-wise, as the best parts of the rest of the entire series - in my opinion - are the sections in Vol 2 by Chen Kai, and, Silvan. So if 4 is just more pages of variations on Dove from Coloring Book, and, Dove Cote - the Adair kid's birthday party stuff, that runs unending through those books - I'm going to be a very UNhappy camper.
@BaronMcCausland3 жыл бұрын
Nice job Alex, good selection of reviews. Totally with you on the General Grant video, he was great; however, Ian Adair... errr... things is, I own most of his printed work on doves from the late 60s and into the 80s - including his famous 5 Volume 'Encyclopedia of Dove Magic', with amazing contributions by Silvan, and, Chen Kai - and, I too was literally horrified at Ian's video where he just acts like a park bench weird-oh and does the same kiddie prop effect over and over; as you pointed out. I've not seen Andy's yet, but I'd like to. Have you seen Victor and Diamond's video?
