By far my favorite video. I’m very happy for the young man that was able to hunt but also tag out on this hunt. I live in NM and have been wanting to visit this range for some time now but just haven’t had the time to do so. Congratulations young man on your successful hunt

I do not agree with the assumption of flight, the bullet flight is not along sight path like you depicted and certainly not at an angle that is not aligned with pathway it is on! The bullet is spinning along an arching pathway alway aligned with its path rising above the line of sight and descending back into line of sight always aligned with its flight path at the target. The depiction is incorrectly assumed and if were true......very rarely would anyone hit a target they intended to hit.

I live in Utah. Hunted all of these hunts: archery, muzzleloader, any weapon, etc…. After speaking with the division wildlife resources biologists. I was told the magnification scopes only improved harvest success by .03%. This doesn’t seem to be all that much. I wish they would’ve lowered the tags down .03% to make up for this. Hunters these days are stretching out their shots regardless of what they’re using! I’m a little annoyed with this but realize we have no say. Now those of us who have these longer shooting muzzleloaders with scopes. Also, who have no sight threading on the end of the barrel. What would you guys suggest? Red dot system? I would love to see what Gunwerks would have to say? Any new sights coming from Cody, WY? Thanks for the great podcasts and videos!

Loved the video. Id like to see a video on custom rifles/diminishing returns. Like what are you getting/paying more for in say an 8k or 14k rifle or rifle system vs a 2k or 4k rifle or rifle system.

This is called the Eotvos Effect. Coriolis takes place when firing North and South. Your Earth model was spinning the wrong way and when you said firing East would cause a high hit you showed the reticle aiming low, while when you said firing West would cause a low hit your animation showed the reticle high. Incorrect explanations like this don't help convince flatards they're wrong. Edit: the entire explanation is also just wrong. Imagine a basketball-sized Earth in front of you with the South Pole facing you and the North Pole away from you. With an Eastern rotation the "top" of Earth is rotating to your right/clockwise. When firing East or West from the "top" of Earth the bullet wants to go in a straight line; however, gravity pulls that line down until it hits an object. In relation to that straight line's original point, yes, the East is rotating "down" from it and the West is rotating "up" towards it; however, that line is also rotating East with the planet so both the East and West targets should remain at the same relative elevation in comparison to the line. The reason shots hit higher when firing East is because of greater centrifugal/upward force. I.E. A .50-cal bmg has a mass of 42-grams and a velocity of about 4,680-kph, while the equator rotates East at about 1,670-kph. When firing East the bullet has a total velocity of 6,350-kph, which gives it an upward force of about 2.09-g. When firing West the bullet has a total velocity of 3,010-kph, which gives it an upward force of about 0.47-g. As you travel closer to the poles the total centrifugal force experienced by the bullet actually increases(~1.53-g when firing West and 3.14-g when firing East from the 60th Parallel) but the difference between the forces decreases so the difference in shot height decreases.

You do realize that you can't use a Revic scope on a rifle to take game in Oregon It violates Oregon state law that prohibits any electronics optics attached to a rifle except to illuminate the reticle .... as per odfw regulations any rifle mounted optic that projects a beam of light visible or invisible to the target is prohibited for taking any big game species....
@JohanWXC16 күн бұрын
This scope does not project a beam of light towards the target.

Could you expand upon what you meant regarding using yards over mil/moa at the 1:36:00 mark? Are you suggesting that for hunting you prefer bdc reticles, or point blank zeroes? I’ve found that without a gun mounted LRF providing elevation holds, the best way to get shots off quickly is a hybrid use of a PBZ and speed drop. For example, say you have a speed drop number of 1.5, I dial up 0.5 for a decent pbz between 0 and ~250m and subtract 2 mils from my range/100 for holds past 250m out to the max effective speed drop range.

Nice Rifles and bullets, but I just can't justify it to myself to pay more for budget deer hunts I'm keen to go on each season. The rifles and reload bullets I use are "tack drivers" so it makes no sense to me to get an expensive rifle set up.

ive used FFP in the timber and you cant even see the reticle. Id say the odds of FFP costing you a up close timber shot is higher then a SFP scope costing you a long shot because you forgot to be on the highest power when holding off on a long shot
