I like your schedule of feeding. Each tank will have a different feeding schedule. When I feed my tanks I just turn off my return pumps.
@chasencorals5 сағат бұрын
Thank you ! I know I should turn off my return during feeding as well but I see a majority of the food I feed sink and the fishes are aggressive eaters so I don’t turn it off.

I'm glad I didn't get a Stripey. They look way too big for my 36" tank. Plus they were kind of pricey.
@chasencorals11 күн бұрын
Theyve gotten pricey now that reefers are aware of them being hardy and Aiptasia eaters . And yes they will grow fast

i think the slime is coming from the corals itself. ive notice them slime whenever i feed or even when i turkey baste the rocks. seems like its a protective mechanism from the corals..

Great looking reef tank. You're knocking it out of the park! You should check out the new Jecod MP pumps. They look like the Ecotech MPs but at a fraction of the price. from some reviews they seem promising.

MB7 is carbon dosing which is probably what is fueling the Cyanobacteria. Sugar grows bacteria.

How much kalkwasser are you dosing because my alk is dropping dosing kalkwasser
@chasencorals27 күн бұрын
Kalk is in my auto top off . My tank evaporates 15 gallons a week. So far the AFR and auto top of has been keeping my ALK in 8-9 range .

Are you dosing any extra trace elements other than all for reef? Forgive me if you said already.
@chasencorals28 күн бұрын
All for reef is all I dose for trace . I do add iodine from time to time. Maybe a drop or two here and there but AFR daily.
@mikltobayu196228 күн бұрын
that was a very good video what you are doing with that tank is great i think you have everything well in hand as a matter of fact in my opion the kilwasser is over kill the all for reef should take care of that and you are so right you do not need expensive equipment i can aford expensive equipment and i would not buy half of the crap they sell , your doing everything right thank you for your video the best golf players in the world were not even close to being wealthy until they put the work in and made it buy the way as you know the only thing that is expensive and i would pay for is the lighting thanks
@chasencorals28 күн бұрын
Thank you and I 💯 agree. Spend your money wisely. Lighting I would not go cheap on . Even though there are good quality lights out there that does work great and cost less. I prefer to spend money on corals hahah.

I haven’t seen them go after any of my corals . I keep them well fed on frozen market shrimp I get from Walmart. But we don’t really know how the will do later down the road but for now, they’ve been good in the tank.

Thanks! I’m not familiar with the app to post my seatings. I just use WWC 1200 gallon lagoon presets and just turned the colors up to 25%.

How much AFR are you dosing daily and how much kalk?
@chasencorals28 күн бұрын
I currently dose 35 ML every 12 hours . So 70 ML a day . As for kalk, it’s in my ATO and it gets dosed as much as my water evaporates. 15 gallons weekly.

Hey I have watched a couple of your videos and I plan to watch some more. I just wanted to let you know I subscribed to your channel today. I really appreciate the work you put into your tank it certainly shows. I have a 35 gallon cube tank more LPS Dominant with a couple SPS in as a few test pieces. I learned the hard way about staying on top of your maintenance routine. I became really busy in August with another project around my house. Just didn't have the time necessary to maintain my reefing schedule. My tank suffered for it. After my home project was completed. I am now back to my routine with a big upgrade. I came home last night from work and was blown away by how bright and colorful my tank was. I have never seen it so beautiful. I had been reading into how to use Calcium Carbonate (Coral Snow). I used it for the first time the other night. Wow what a difference in the water clarity. My tank is a year and a half old and I can relate to what you said about being able to pick up on subtle cues the tank gives you. My best example is when my parameters were all good but something just wasn't right with the tank. I knew something was off I just couldn't put my finger on it. I figured it had to be something lacking in my trace elements except I can't test them myself. I am sure that If I bought an ICP test and sent the samples out it would have confirmed this but I just hate the whole ICP process of buying the kit, sampling the water, mailing the test out and then waiting for the results to come back. I started reading into the Korallen-Zucht products and decided to try it. After an honest effort investing in the products. I say investing because the products are not cheap. I started out with the basic foundation of the Zeovit system which consists of Zeovit media in a reactor, Zeo Start 3 (Carbon dosing), ZeoBac (Bacteria) and ZeoFood (coral nutrition). I started to see improvement in my nutrient levels coming down. Then I bought the Nano package that contains four products with just 10ml of highly concentrated product. Dosage is drops. Then I bought the colors 1-4 products. Wow holy cow am I happy. This coral system is amazing. While on my day off on Weds. I serviced my tank as usual water change, clean filter socks, scrapping the glass ect. I have also been learning about Calcium Carbonate (Coral Snow). I mixed some up. I blew off the corals and rock work with my turkey baster then added the coral snow with the only the wave makers on for half an hour. Then turned on the return pump and skimmer and went to bed. Yesterday morning I really couldn't see much since I leave for work at 6am and its completely dark and the tank lights are off. I couldn't believe my eyes how clear and bright the tank was. I noticed it right away as I was walking up to the front door of my house. I could see the tank was beaming from outside.
@chasencorals28 күн бұрын
Thank you! Yeah reefing is a journey. Theres always something to do . But once we get things dialed in, we can sit back and enjoy the tank. We get back what we put into the tank. I’m glad the coral snow has done great for you ! I make it a weekly routine for my tank .

Love your content bro! Keep the videos coming. Dont worry about thr ramblings...its all good...its good info. Been a reefkeeper for 25 years and just recently got back into hobby. Im following similar practices to you and its doing wonders for my less than 3 month old sps tank.

@chasencorals29 күн бұрын
Yes my phosphates stay high. I think my rocks are leaching phosphate and currently my range is about 0.80-1.00 . Yes that’s very high and I do have a video out on it but not really detailed on phos .

Incredible tank! Totally get being cost conscious and getting the Jebao gyres. My question is how did you afford all those corals? Did you acquire most of them through trading, and if so, any recommendations for acquiring corals through trade?
@chasencorals29 күн бұрын
Thank you ! I don’t spend a lot of money on equipment but I do spend on corals . I usually do live auctions or trade shows to acquire the “high end” pieces. Also from local reefers, they usually do great deals if you buy more. I’m just patient and will wait for the right price before I pull the trigger .
