So, you took $1 wood at a bargain, but you burned it for testing on a $1,000 wood table without foil or other protection?

The people that use fatwood are those that spend time outdoors in and around the woods. Fatwood is a natural material that comes from pine trees which can be found in the woods. The fact that these people choose to buy it instead of harvesting it for themselves just boggles my mind. I wonder if I could bag air in baggies and sell it?

You know all those smells in Vicks are natural lol. Rosemary, eucalyptus, camphor. It likely means your fatwood was soaked in Camphor Oil

Known in the South as 'lighterd', 'lighter wood', lighter knot, and heart pine. While wandering though the woods, look for downed, rotten pine logs. Kick them with your foot, or the backside of your ax to separate the rotten wood from the lighter knots and/or the center pine core. Lighter knots are where tree limbs used to be attached to the tree. The tree concentrates flammable pitch in the knots and center of the tree. This wood will burn even when wet. Use it sparingly to get your campfire going.

I can't believe people are buying fat wood for actual money. Just find literally any pine stand and it will be all over the place
@modestaudacity2 күн бұрын
Why are you buying fat wood?? I mean honestly if your buying fat wood, just buy a bic lighter and firestarter like mini inferno. I think the point of it all is to be able to procure your own resources from nature. But then again maybe I'm the one who is wrong here. 😂

I'm familiar with Family Dollar, Dollar General and Dollar Tree but not Dollar Store. I guess they aren't in my area.

I'll be honest here, I'm all for all natural but if I'm freezing in the woods I don't really care what starts my fire. Granted the vics scent is probably just eucalyptus oil so still natural, but I'd set an entire barrel of jet fuel on fire to keep hypothermia away.

Bought a bag of fat wood d from lowe’s 2 years ago, split it in 1/4 when possible, then cut each stick into 3 pieces! Still have half the box to go! And last year, found a nice little trove of “balsam pine”! So I guess I am set!

When using your ferrorod, you should pull the rod towards you and keep the sticker steady. It's easier to aim your sparks that way. Try it out!
