A very sad day...remembering all the children that lived in that area who went to that church..sunday school..the street parades..the inside of the church was beautifull..the christening font...😢

Very poignant, but still a lovely video. I’ve seen this and your films documenting the demolition of Hartford Mill. Can I ask where you got the old photos of Saint Johns St and the church from as I’m currently researching Alder Root, Edward St and St John St?

Just come across this film. Great video. I remember the remnants of the yard in the 1980’s and 1990’s.

Great video! The MSC, another UK wasted asset. Perhaps now that the retail bubble has burst we could see part of the original docks reconverted for say feeder container traffic - stranger things have happened!

Nice work thanks! Brings back memories - amazing how much nicer everything looks now (including the water) than it was in the early 1970s when I rode on a ship along there (school trip) you would not want to see or smell what it was like back then! I guess it was a standard outing for many local schools, I wonder if modern schools still do the same trips. Trafford to Liverpool and then home by coach.

Fantastic video that brought back some fond memories. My first job after leaving school in 1969 was with the Manchester Ship Canal Company. One of the first things you did as part of the introduction to the company was a trip up the canal from Salford Docks on the Daniel Adamson. Another one was watching a lock gate being changed, which wasn't quite as exciting! I only found out the other day that these trips are working so I'm definitely going to do one with my wife, 55 years after the first!
