Ако има изпълнение, което може да се определи като ангелско е точно това. Честит първи милион на видеото, но гласът на Нели заслужава много повече!

In what culture do these heartbreaking sounds have anything to do with a 'little girl?' Is she possessed? Are they trying to possess her? Almost too painful to listen to. I've never heard such unresolved sounds.
@Mimi-borahae8 ай бұрын
Little Maiden is a more accurate translation. She is praying to god and asking to find a kind and good lad/boy. A big part of Bulgarian folklore sounds sad and as you said painful. We were under Ottoman slavery for 5 centuries and we were liberated 130 years ago. Many songs and literary pieces are on this topic. As you know, in difficult times, people keep themselves together and keep their hope for freedom through songs and religion. For this reason, you will find many of our songs sad and heartbreaking. But on the other hand, there are a lot of upbeat and happy songs and dances, it's not only sad. This song particularly, is not folklore, it is composed by her, Neli Andreeva, but represents the old folk songs.

Still the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Found this maybe 15 years ago in a movie with Jason Statham. To this day, I still listen to this from beginning to end. Neli Andreeva has a voice of the Gods. A true Saint.

That movie with the song in it- nobody who performed, directed or recorded it got any credits from the use of the song in the movie. You can also hear our national music at the end of 300 (movie from 2006), The brothers Grimm (2005) and a few other big productions that gave 0 credits for the songs they used.

And still: why is the the Danube river "white"?
@huskytail10 ай бұрын
Nobody truly knowns why is the Danube referred always as "white". There are three pretty serious contenders for why it appeared as such and it's mostly related to the following things : 1. The geographical directions- north, south etc (not necessarily the cardinal ones but as reference to something else, if that makes sense) 2. As one of the joining points of rivers- you'll have white and black rivers (right and left tributary) 3. Association of white with big, sacred and beautiful Given that nobody truly knows as this is way too old, you can choose and pick. My personal opinion is that it's a mixture of multiple of the given explanations 😉.

You have a lot of Scottish, Welsh and English heritage which is rich in folklore. I'm saying this as a Serb. Someone with a UK, Canadian or US background will know more. The problem with Canada and I guess US is that economic climate in which many people live today means that communities have less importance to the existence of individuals, which means that a lot of traditions like songs have been lost because there has to be a community effort in maintaining traditions. Even though modern recording has enabled many traditions to survive beyond the life of said communities, songs and traditions need living communities.
