I also have a hard time speaking my native language and its bisaya. I live in the Philippines and my family speaks in chavacano and bisaya. I always got confused which language they are speaking. I always got laughed on because of how i speak in English which makes me feel ashamed, sad, lonely, and feeling like I'm a freak to my own country. My distance relatives always calls me American girl which i felt depressed because it makes me feel I'm not part of my culture and one of my family...

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. I’m planning a trip to Okinawa. May I ask what time of year you visited? It looks beautiful! I’ve read about the typhoons and I’m not sure when to go. I was thinking end of September-early October. Thank you! 🙏🏼✨

Same here, i'm nigerian but i have been here in italy since my birth but i don't really know my native language cuz i've never been in nigeria, because of that, i don't feel comfortable talking with my aunties, uncles, cousins or grandparents that live in nigeria. It feels so embarassing..

What’s really worked for me is as a language learner is Immersive Translate. It’s a free browser extension that supports over 100+ languages. I personally use it to generate subtitles to my KZbin and Netflix, and that’s really helped me improve my understanding of Vietnamese, my target language. I’ve already learned a lot so far, which is really great.

Yes, this is a "bug" in cameras and I heard some phones started to fix it and now it's harder to use your camera for this :D You can easily check if it works if you take amy IR remote, point it into the camera and press a button. If you see the remote flickering, then your camera can find them. Most likely it will work.

Same I'm Sri lankan but I didn't feel that way because I couldn't speak Sinhalese because I was brought up to only speak english. This made me very distant from people because I don't prefer to speak in sinhala because I wasn't very good at it.

im the same! Im also moroccan but I was born and raised in the netherlands. my own parents only talked dutch to me instead of tamazight, and everytime I came to morocco I didnt know how to speak my own language and my familymembers kept laughing in my face about it and shamed me about it so since then I never tried to learn or try to speak my own language anymore, because no one appreciated it that I atleast tried. so I also dont feel moroccan. its a shame that I feel like a foreigner when Im in morocco..

We have the same story 😭, I am so mad that I can't speak the language well I can't even read or write it but I am also not motivated to learn it. Thats why I don't feel fully moroccan but at the same time what am I?

@MakaLoves Жыл бұрын
Hey! thank you very much 🥹 How long will you stay in Japan? I recommend to have at least 1 whole day in Universal and 1 whole day in Nara. Regarding the bullet train, check the JR pass, depending on your trips it could be cheaper overall for the trains. and don't forget to reserve the luggage spot in the bullet train. I think it's free but you have to reserve it.

I've had a similar experience with Spanish/English/Portuguese. I like how you talk about having your own culture, I feel that way too. And I really like your accent when speaking English. I feel like most native English speakers really like the way a French accent sounds (which you have) and find it very charming!
@MakaLoves Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment! I am always happy to see that people can relate and I wish that more people would talk about it so that we don't feel alone or like we don't belong. As for my accent, thank you haha I used to hate it 😅

I'd love to hear about the process about finding a place in Tokyo. I'm planning to move to Tokyo through my company in Los Angeles since we have an office in Jinbocho. Figuring out how to find a place in Tokyo seems challenging though since you need a Japanese phone number and bank account and you can really only have that once you're already in Japan.
@MakaLoves Жыл бұрын
finding a place is really difficult for foreigners thats why most people first live in a share house until they find a job. but I have a feeling that your company might help you with that.

In the US it's way more strict than in Japan. I don't know how people smoke in the US. Especially at work. Employers are required by law to make a 'Smoke shack' a 100 miles away from the buildings and schools, I'm joking but it's far, where workers can smoke. You cannot smoke in ANY building or public area. Let's just say no one in the US dares to sneak smoking in non-smoking areas because of our "Trigger-happy" police... For toilet paper in the US the layers are called 'plys'. Japan may have 1 ply due to it's more easier to dispose at trash sites and they don't clog up the plumbing like 2-ply and above do. Here in the US they're pushing the 1-ply because our pipes are getting jammed and it's expensive to fix.
@MakaLoves Жыл бұрын
thats so interesting, I didn't know that it was so strict in the US. The toilet paper clogging makes so much sense. Germany has indeed so many differences.
