Apart from Railways, what I liked about David Jenkinson was that he was a great communicator. Even if you didn't know anything about the subject he was talking about, by the end of his talk,or video etc you would have an understanding,even a basic one, of what the subject he was speaking on. He certainly inspired a lot of people in his lifetime.

This video is not playing on my phone, all the other videos numbering several hundred play ok but not this one. Are there some technical issues with it? The video is not loading properly, there a white circle spinning around in the middle of the screen and the picture is frozen. Can you sort this out please as it is a very good video of a very well known man in the Railway field, both prototype and model. Thank

I really like this style of RWS remakes you got going on, only using older models and such. The characters' basis not being necessarily accurate only adds to the charm, but I honestly don't think this is a good pick for Edward, as the narration states he is smaller than the others engines in the shed. Otherwise, great video!
@penninefilms47142 жыл бұрын
Thank you, unfortunately Hornby Dublo never made a small tender engine, But it would have been nice if Edward could have been an older locomotive. :)

I'm sorry for your loss too💜 2004 seems not long ago, but it's 20 years - where does the time go. I was lucky enough to be a, for an all too brief period, pen pal of David's, all too short a life, but he packed a lot in. I was pen pals with Jack Ray and Ken Payne too - all were great men and great exponents of the hobby. Many have gone "home" now, as has Bob Essery💜✌️ Sorely missed.

David Jenkinson was one of the pioneers who greatly influenced my modelmaking. Born in Derby, and therefore dyed-in-the-wool Midland man, most of my modelling in various scales has followed this theme. I salute his memory and have fond memories of talking with him at several exhibitions when he was exhibiting Marthwaite in EM gauge.

Best wishes from Australia. I wonder what happened to Midland and Vincent and whether they were preserved or scrapped? The Fat Controller could've kept both engines for shunting as well as freight trains. That way Gordon, Henry and James would grumble less

I'm not sure what happened to Vincent maybe he was sold to another railway once Thomas arrived, Midland has been stored away somewhere in England, see my follow up episode Midland the Brave Engine.

I always wondered why the N2’s were used as shunters and goods engines in pop culture even thought in real life, they would be unsuitable for the task. All the N2’s were used for hauling suburban passenger trains.
@daylightman84593 жыл бұрын
They were only suited for hauling a quad-art set or two because that’s what they are designed for. Also, the back bogie would derail in convoluted shunting yards.
