The F-16 Fighting Falcons are definitely NOT carrier capable. The arrestor hook is for catching the emergency airfield barriers if the brakes or a hydraulic system goes out. You are right about the different parts. The separate nozzles and air intakes are for different engines in the later block 'C' airframes, as are the different wheels/tires/landing gear doors. The pilots on the smaller sprue trees are equipped with the JHMCS helmets, permitting full offsite-bore capability of the AIM-9X Sidewinder air to air missiles. The different vertical stab is also for the later block Vipers. 😁Thanks for this unboxing!

That’s a nice build you’re doing there. You may already be aware but the AMT 60 Chevy Pickup has the straight 6 engine. It would definitely make it more to scale. I like your idea of cutting and modifying the v-8 but it does look like a 4 banger in that big engine bay. Please give updates as you go forward.

Just subbed to you, you are making great progress on the build. I always tell people who ask me about scratch building, you will never know how until you do it. Keep trucking on, you are on the right path. I have a lot of good scratch building videos on my channel that you can go have a look.

Yeah they are Academy remixed kits. But the tooling must be well kept because the parts are nice and crisp

I picked up an ICM 1/48 Bf-109f with figures that Squadron had on sale for Labor Day. They were running 40% off all ICM and it came down to only $20. 7 figures included too… looking forward to opening that up

That gun crew looks nice… they look like Fallschirmjager paratroopers with the small helmets… cold weather gear too, could make for an interesting winter/snow diorama! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

The use of the Yellow wings was ended probably by 1940 - before Pearl Harbor. (Some aircraft still had them by Pearl Harbor but were generally second line duties where camouflage was less important.) Anything considered "Front Line" was almost always repainted soon after the issue of orders. (Including planes on carriers.) The 2 color schemes in the box are one for 1938/39 and one for Midway. (The red "meatballs" were painted out after the Battle of the Coral Sea, a month before Midway.)

That's a super looking kit, and considering what I've spent on some kits, a real bargain. Nice packaging, color guides, nice instructions and great looking plastic. As a kid in the 70's I would drool over the old Monogram kit of the TBD, but was too intimidated by it.😃

This came out really nice. Definitely a unique little fighter. That freehand camo looks great
@ryanelliott56164 ай бұрын
This looks great so far! Personally I’ve done everything from tape to masking putty/silly putty to freehand like you show here. With a good quality airbrush and a steady hand freehand can produce excellent results. Certainly the most time consuming and stressful in my opinion, but it also looks the most realistic to my eye. It mirrors the way many real camouflage patterns were sprayed on these warbirds, by hand, with a large spray gun. Can’t wait to see the final result with the green added. I also might post shade the black if I were you so it’s not so stark against the warmer green and white tones

Nice! I bought the same kit this year from an airshow but came with extra decals for the airshow version we have here. Search paul bennett avenger. Finishing up a bunch of 1/72 aircraft kits and painting some 1/35 figures.

Hello, i liked this video you made. Well done. I think modelling as a hobby is reasonably cheap. You can start off with not that much investment in kits and accessories. Really it is up to the individual as to the level of their finished kit. If you are happy with the kit as is just painted and glued together without photo etch or weathering then it can be reasonably cheap. Plenty of bargain kits can be found on ebay or other online sites. Thanks for your videos. I look forward to seeing more.

Recent subscriber. Best of luck with the channel. Ah, the bane of every modeler. Sand, prime, sand, prime, repeat. We are our own worst critics. When it becomes a job, you might want to do something else to it. There's other things you can do, right? Landing gear, paint the engine, test fit the wings. Harry Houdini, has a video on the this and the philosophy of wabi sabi. Nothing is perfect, it is never finished and it will not last. Take a deep breath, exhale and repeat...it's just my hobby. Keep plugging along, you haven't taken up basket weaving yet. So that means you're still with us.

The older kits are great practice and great kits to make it as you want. Plus, with the cost of kits today, older kits tend to be less expensive and you don’t feel as bad if you mess something up. I don’t enter competitions. I build for fun and relaxation. As long as it looks good on a shelf or hung from the ceiling of my shop, I’m good.
@acescalemodeling6 ай бұрын
Really really good job!! I’ve built a few of those and the fit veries quiet a lot. I’ve had ones that are awful and a few that are perfect. Also your blue is definitely accurate.

Bouth colors are too dark for 1/72 scale, especially with gloss coute, you need do some highlighting and modulation with any of these both colors...
@rebelsatcloudnine6 ай бұрын
I kind of look for whatever is available in Canada that best matches the subject. I really like the Tamiya Acrylic range, and I'll even decant a few of their TS and AS paints for airbrushing. For more specific colors like the blue you have mentioned I'll look into the Mr. Color range of Lacquer paints. I like to sue those a lot as well, and they have a lot of Federal Standard colors that I can use. I don't mind testing out new paints, but those are the ranges that I like a lot, I'm very comfortable painting with them.

Everything is worth the effort when the shapes are good. In the end, if you just want to carefree put stuff together, Lego is there for you and you won't have fitting problems ever. If you were born when Modelkits were made for kids, you learned the hard way how to put together Matchbox, Frog, old Hasegawa and Heller kits trying to do the best you could. I think millenials got it too easy and now complains for everything not effortless. Kids used to work hard with files and putty and enjoyed the process of making something with their hands and skill instead of just buy expensive boxes, throw in some open glue, shake the box and take out the finished models

I think there is a place for both kinds of kits in the space.

Similar process for me as far as picking the next project. I usually go with what I’m interested in and or “amped up” about. Helps with the motivation and makes the project more enjoyable. As far as the paint colors, I’d go with either color but still stick to a gloss coat on either. At least through the decal stage and then maybe a satin finish if you want a more worn look. I’d definitely try to avoid any decal silvering on a single color scheme though, as any flaw will show that much more

Caught your channel re-entering the hobby after a long sabbatical, it's very helpful because it is an entirely new industry now with kit prices and materials. The learning curve is hard enough , however, another problem is I have to rely on dealers on the Internet as there are no hobby shops to in my area. Do you have a favorite Internet hobby store you like to use? I have found Andy's Hobby pretty consistent and good pricing with many sales. In fact I just ordered a kit you might want to take a look at - the 1/48 Me 262 HGlll by Amusing Hobby - its is a new type of molding that helps alignment , so being new I thought I'd give it a shot - it's not too pricey, between 35-40 dollars. BTW that was a great price on the Zero. Thanks for any ideas you can send my way.

@@MakingModels11 Thanks, this really helps a lot. I agree with you on Tamiya, always reliable quality in my old days of building, there was a company called Otaki which had excellent scale quality when it came to surface detail. They sold out in 1986, however if you ever run across them, I think you would like them. I've also found Eduard to be moving up the quality ladder. Thanks again for your recommendations. Catch you on the next video
