I wonder if this will make me regret cancelling my preorder and buying a Banshee Reach instead 😅
@DivKid9 сағат бұрын
Gut reaction is that they're pretty different (though I'll have to search banshees reach to remember all it does - maybe they're not)
@BappinProductions9 сағат бұрын
@ I was most interested in a simple/solid VCO with vari-wave and both modules tick the box here. Banshee Reach has TZFM&PM and a noise mode whereby a digital source modulates the analog core of the VCO. Cycle 5 is less feature rich but it’s 2HP smaller and Joranalogue who I have a soft spot for 😅

I don’t think I’ll be walking away with GAS but I’ll be tuning in all the same to check out the module 😊
@DivKid7 сағат бұрын
Thanks for watching anyway, they're more similar than I remembered. Hopefully there's a patch or two that works nicely on the Reach.

Hi Ben, a quick question, i'm not sure about: is it possible to use like a send/return fx? Thanks for your work!
@DivKid9 сағат бұрын
Hello, good question and unfortunately not. There's no send and return function. You have the ability to input line level, which will bring that level up to Eurorack and add that to the mix. But the mix out always remains a mix of all 6 stereo inputs. If you output (say through the headphones) to a pedal and then back into the line level input and come out of the main outputs you'll have a feedback loop, as the line level will output back through the headphones too and create the loop. Feedback loops are great (when intentional), but not what you're after here. If you want a send/return module the DPW Pedal IO is very simple and it's clever dual gain staging have sounded great, but there's other nice options. I'd use something like that then the Output Bus as a means of mixing several things in the system and outputting that as a final stage.

There's talk of them maybe re-releasing as a normal Instruo release with some donation to a greyhound charity Jason supports but keeping the panel exclusive to those that helped with this. It was definitely an overwhelming and quick sell out, fantastic to know everything is covered for Winston going forward.

can I send controller changes from Ableton to the cutoff and resonance on the PWM Malevolent? and stuff on the behringer neutron?
@DivKidКүн бұрын
Not with this as this takes cv and turns them to MIDI. Not MIDI and turns those to cv. So it's the wrong way around. You could check the Malevolent manual as I'm not sure but some of that might respond to MIDI already. If it doesn't then you need a MIDI to CV device with the amount of outputs that you'd like. Same for the Neutron.

Understandable given the circumstance as a reissue to help his doggo, but I can't help but think this could be even better if the 3 inputs were VCA's with CV control.

Ben, would the ochd and its expander pair well with the Arbhar and Morphagene sitting next to each other?
@DivKid5 күн бұрын
Indeed they do, I love ochd pushing the grains around of Arbhar. As with any modulation you'll likely want some attenuation around for CV inputs that don't have attenuators/attenuverters so you can scale and set the depths of modulation.
@dragomirsyarov69695 күн бұрын
@ so passing them via Maths and/or Tweakers by Klavis will do the job! So that think to add them as workhorses for both Arbahr and Morphagene
@DivKid5 күн бұрын
Yeah Maths and/or Tweakers will work, any utility really. As I say not unique to ochd, any module with CV inputs that doesn't have CV attenuation/version is going to work out better with the ability to dial in the range of modulation.

I’m super late in asking, but can this be jacked into Hexmix via rear cables? Like how the STMix can be pre patched into Hexmix/ Hexpander?
@DivKid6 күн бұрын
Hello, no worries Stereo Strips are still out and will be so good time to ask still. No, this doesn't feature rear connections for going into other things like the Hexmix.
@DeathFromRKelly6 күн бұрын
@ minor heartbreaker, but I get it. I see the stereo strip as a very meaningful companion to the Output Bus, and in theory I could just plug the Output Bus’s modular out (or the Stereo Strip) to additional returns on the Hexpander. Just wanted to double check 😁
@DivKid5 күн бұрын
No worries, good to check and ask questions of course, thanks! :)

Nice i wish i could get the black Diy but it seems sold out. Would you consider this sound quality wise top tier? Cwejman, L-1, ACL? And maybe simmular to the new tiptop 259t, verbos natural oscillator, or any other dual wavefolding synthvoice? Thanks ❤
@DivKid6 күн бұрын
You can definitely consider it to be in the "complex oscillator" camp similar to the 259 and variants. But it's very different with the separate harmonic controls. You have a very wide scope of sound with this and in built modulation like nothing else.

Dradd is fantastic. My only gripe is there isn't CV control over the mix. I really hope Pladask continues to release Eurorack modules. I have a good amount of their pedals and love them all.
@DivKid7 күн бұрын
I'd love for them to, I've had loads of fun with this since the video and enjoyed it. I'd love to see them explore it more and CV over mix is nice, but that can be done elsewhere at least.

Let me attempt to help us get up to speed with the current state of Stolperbeats. In the previous firmware, both envelopes/lfos would fire whenever you sent a trigger to the reset input. When I emailed MSM to report this as a bug they replied saying this was intentional to the design of the new firmware. This seemed not to align with the ability to choose the event to which each of the two CV outputs is aligned (as stated in the “Envelope and LFO OUT” section of the manual). When I asked why they changed this behavior they responded that they simply thought it was a good idea and implemented it while creating the latest update. I still can't figure out what the idea behind that design change was, or why they would alter such a fundamental behavior and not tell anyone. The behavior was reverted in the next firmware with no word of why they would flip-flop the design like this. This is an example of how it went with a single aspect in 1 of the nearly 10 firmware versions that have been released, each one creating new bugs. Not all updates would fix previous issues; sometimes compounding them. If anyone needs to decipher this statement as true/crazy just look at the changelogs yourself. You can find them on the firmware page. I will also quote the latest changelog below: Changelog 163 “Fix: Adjusts behavior of ENV 1 + 2 with and externally triggered reset. Env 1 + 2 used to reset (and fire) with the triggered reset. Instead they now retain the last value over a reset until triggered as set. Fix: Sync x1, x2, x4 fire on start of bar. Was offset by a quarter note. Introduced in 157, fixed in 161. Fix: Patterns were not playing back correctly in Flam (yellow) and Slop (white) Feeling. Introduced in 162, fixed in 163.” This list shows the bugs in SB aren't isolated to the reset input, and the necessary adjustments don't only support advanced users; these changes address diverse and fundamental issues that need to be resolved for casual users as well. If you look at the previous changelogs you will find the same situation, this has been a longstanding pattern. I have found multiple bugs in 163 myself, but I can confirm the current firmware does have at least 1 bug known to the manufacturer. When I emailed MSM about these issues I got this response: “There will be a firmware that fixes the resets.” This response was received on 6/27/24 While brief, the reply does confirm their knowledge of one of SB’s current issues which causes the sequencer to jump to random places at random times when receiving a reset input. I do hope MSM will address this issue in the next firmware, but they cannot seem to create an update that doesn't introduce a new bug, so be careful what you wish for. At this point, I don't feel I can trust MSM to deliver Stolperbeats as a stable product for any level of user.
