Chet Atkins was, is and always will be my #1 guitar hero but I feel he was too good of a player to have to to use gimmicky effects boxes. The Guitar Country album version is a million times better and easier on the ears.

Chad Atkins is one of my all-time favorite guitar. A very beautiful finger style guitarist. To me he was the best finger style guitarist the world has ever known. I love your style and the way he plays. I love the album that him and Mark Knopfler dead called neck and neck. What a beautiful album. His style is really hard. I’ve been playing for 51 years and still haven’t really accomplished it yet. But no matter how long you play guitar. Don’t feel like you’re like better than everyone else. There’s always someone out there better that can teach you something. Hats off to Chet Atkins sure miss him one of the great ones.❤️❤️👍😁🎸🥲

This man has been an inspiration in my life, along with George Harrison and alone For rock ‘n’ roll, it was always Jimmy page. And Don Felder. But Chad Atkins takes the cake. He is the one who inspired me the most to want to learn to play the guitar. You talk about it and guitar hero. He’s one for sure. I also personally knew soul surfer Johnny Fortune. Was friends with him from 1976 to 2006 when he passed away from diabetes I’m 71 years old and I play guitar today. I’ve been playing guitar for 51 years. I still listen to Chad Atkins. Sometimes it brings tears to my eyes. They said there was no overdubbing in this song I believe it. That man could play anything he wanted and anyway he wanted to play it totally fantastic guitarist thanks for this video. I sure miss him.🎸🎼🎵🎶🎸👍❤️

Sweet tunes and good times. Listening to skilled musicians who are masters of the guitar and the American songbook never seem old or out of date. Years maybe centuries from now, folks will be enjoying listening to this "classical" music. Thank goodness for the electronic technology that enables the recording to persist for the generations to come.

Sometimes I go walkin' through the fields Where we walked Long ago in the sweet used-to-be And the flowers still grow But they don't smell as sweet As they did when you picked them for me And when I think of you And the love we once knew How I wish we could go back in time Do you ever think back on old mem'ries like that Or do I ever cross your mind? Do you ever wake up lonely In the middle of the night Because you miss me, do you darlin' Oh and do your mem'ries ever take you back Into another place in time And do you ever miss the feelings and the love We shared when you were with me, do you darlin' I just wonder do I cross your mind Oh how often I wish that again I could kiss Your sweet lips like I did long ago How often I long for those two lovin' arms That once held me so gentle and close And when I think of you and the love we once knew How I wish we could go back in time Do you ever recall these old mem'ries at all Or do I ever cross your mind Do you ever wake up lonely In the middle of the night Because you miss me, do you darlin' Oh and do your mem'ries ever take you back Into another place in time And do you ever miss the feelings and the love We shared when you were with me, do you darlin' I just wonder do I cross your mind Oh, do I ever cross your mind

Imagine a musical duel where each guitarist takes turns showcasing their prowess. Chet kicks things off, and Mark follows, creating a captivating back-and-forth throughout the entire song. If you’re familiar with their styles, you’ll find it delightful to identify who’s playing the main chord as they seamlessly swap stanzas. The guitar playing is a symphony of top-tier skill, seasoned experience, and a profound love for music, leaving a lasting impression like a fine, aged wine.

I first heard this song many years ago on one of our smooth jazz stations. I loved it. Reading up on the chinook winds, I was really fascinated. I wonder what inspired Mr. Atkins to come up with this song. So cool.
