First of all black people should be the only people to be having cornrows it came from Africa and stays in Africa its our culture , white and other people that are not black are not supposed to be having braidz or black styles it should be illegal.

as an european i'm so tired of this american "cultural appropriation" thing. First of all - cultures are meant to be shared not separated! it leads to separating the society and forcing unnecesary racism. And second - brainds are not only part of black culture but many other cultures like vikings or slavs. It's so stupid to assume and attack person for having certain hairstyle.
@leonardoenrico21522 жыл бұрын
(*just asking, don't attack me*) why Bangchan's braids was categorized racism/cultural appropriation, but many football player use that hair even they're not black, like Bellerin, Sergio Ramos, Fellaini, etc They're never get cancel culture from their fans or haters

I just think that Stays need to start understanding that These idols are humans too, with opinions and personal tastes.. If a different race wishes to wear cornrows, it's not immediately racist comon.. It's a very cool hairstyle and that's exactly what BangChan thought as well! So I understand why the apology was half done, because it's none of your business to what hairstyle someone else wants to wear.. If I could wear cornrows, I so totally would. Because in my opinion the hairstyle, is just a very pretty one! There I said my piece, because bashing and sending death threats to idols for a hairstyle is just plain ridiculous!.. Aren't we supposed to live in a free world, where we can be ourselves?
@Jai_hannie2 жыл бұрын
Personally idk if people wear them and braids. He said he thought it was a cool look, i see that as just appreciating culture. If he was to make fun of it or claim it as his style sure that literally the definion of culture appropriation. I get why people are mad cuz the history but like everything has history behind it, sad and happy. I feel like coming together and appreciating each other culture (like me and my friends used to do) would be nice tbh😊. But if you are upset, sure we all feel different about it. Appreciate: recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something. Appropriate: members of a majority group adopt cultural elements of a minority group in an exploitative, disrespectful, or stereotypical way.

Okay there's a lot of people who seem to be confused as to why black stays are mad at Chan/don't stan Chan anymore. This video has a lot of misinformation so I'll explain it. Also before y'all read, just know if you're not black you have no right to speak over/for us. Nor do you have the right to accept Chan's apology. It isn't for you. You guys can read this explanation and ask questions, but that's all. **Chan with cornrows** : Too many people are in these comments saying "it's just braids". NO. Cornrows are a protective hair style for black people. It's apart of black culture and it serves a purpose. Also there's so much misinformation about Chan not choosing the hairstyle. He did. A fan asked him about it at a fan sign and he said that it was "his decision". I'll link the video of him saying it if anyone wants it. Here's the link to the video of Chan's response to a fan asking him about the hairstyle. My comment keeps getting deleted for some reason lol: www.tiktok.com/t/ZTdoALP7R/?k=1 **Jim Crow pose situation** : If you don't know about Jim Crow... Google is free. Anyway, rightfully so, black stays were mad at Chan for mimicking the Jim Crow pose AND the song 'This Is America'. 'This Is America' is a song by Childish Gambino. In the song, Gambino raps about black struggle and how black people are treated in America. There's a lot of symbolism, it's very hard to miss. Chan wouldn't have done the dance if he didn't watch the music video, so yeah it's gonna rub people the wrong way. Plus changing the lyrics about a song that talks about something serious to a goofy song about JYP is weird. **"Ninja" situation** : I'm gonna keep this one short. In one of Chan's raps he says "When the real ninjas die, fake ninjas gon multiply". Chan actually didn't write this verse, this verse is originally from a rapper named Asap Rocky. Asap actually used the n-word, but Chan changed it to ninja. I know what a lot of you may be thinking, "it shouldn't be offensive! He didn't say the n-word!" Sorry to break this to y'all, but changing the n-word to something that sounds similar is weird. You're basically finding loopholes to say it. I also understand the whole "Ninjas is 3Rachas unofficial fandom name!" but PLEASE take into account that Chan used a verse from a black rapper and changed the n-word to something similar. If Chan didn't use Asap Rocky's verse and just simply wrote his own, no one would have a problem! **Chan's apology** : Tbh I believe people were mad at Chan because he posted his apology on Bubble?(an app where you have to pay to see it). People have posted screenshots of his apology, but it's understandable why people are mad. Personally, I accept Chan's apology. But if you're a black stay who doesn't, you're valid and have every right no to!!! It's your decision. I believe that's all the problems Chan has had. If I missed any I will edit and talk about it. But for now, y'all have some information PLUS explanations as to why people are mad. (And by mad I mean holding Chan accountable. Sending him threats is NOT holding him accountable. That's just bullying.)

Personally as a BLACK person, I don't think it's racist or anything for a non black person to have cornrows, like come on its a hairstyles. It's not like we'll die if another race wears a black hairstyle. It's their hair, their choice. Come on now enough with this, it makes no sense to shame someone for a hairstyle. God gave us brains and commonsense for a reason don't waste it.

Did some of the members did CA/racist thing? Yes, I believe so. Did they do it intentionally? No, I don't think so based in their personality shown on and off cam. Are they racist? For me, NO. Racist people for me are those people who mock other's culture or race INTENTIONALLY. But does this mean they didn't do anything wrong? Hell NO. They still did CAs and racist things even if the intention is not bad, and if the people affected can't forgive their apologies, it's their right. Their feelings are valid. However, since SKZ have already provided an apology for those actions, if the people affected are not satisfied or doesn't want to accept it, I think it is best to NOT SUPPORT them or ignore them instead of sending them hate because doing so will only hurt you more. And I hope kpop stans stops using CAs or racist issues as a tool for fanwars. If you think you're being savage and if you think you're giving justice to the affected group, no. you're just being an ahole.

I think y’all fail to realize at the end of the day he chose the hairstyle, he profits off of a culture that’s not his, he acknowledges it’s wrong and still chooses not to apologize even when it is brought up directly to him. It’s even weirder that he chose that hairstyle for a rap promotion because it seemed to fit his “hip hop” concept. he is constantly ignorant, even down to replacing the n word with ninja, because it’s just kinda tone def, we know exactly what he was going for, it should also be brought up about how he has mocked desis and “this is america” (a song about injustice and it is very clear what the message of the song is) he is racist and ignorant and it’s time to stop sweeping it under the rug and clearing the searches. using the excuse “he apologized on bubble and even got banned” does not mean a thing, he posted that dumb apology on an app where u need to pay?? Again him profiting, he’s just suddenly not able to use any other platform?? Even han apologized on ig …
