Cool tip. Wouldn't gravel be easier to pour than sand?

It probably would. The instructions said water or sand

What's great about 4000' hiking is that it gets folks outdoors to the wonderful world of nature and like-minded people. Although I've hiked many NE 4000' Mts, I never kept track or had a goal of doing all of them. I just liked hiking for fun and adventure, period. It didn't make sense to me to say "I've hiked them all.", but now I understand it's nice to be recognized for achievement even if briefly. So kudos to all of you who have stood 4000' tall. You're special.

Looks like a great many hikers finished this. I liked seeing the Maine finishes for the 67 highest of New England too. Happy Trails everyone.
