Great. New obsession activated haha. This is really beautiful work. Do you ever cut yourself ? I feel like I’m gonna have to take a few trips to the ER with my clumsiness if I try and attempt this

Hello! I am curious, what is the copper like stuff that is put around each glass piece before the silver metal stuff is welded on top? How does the silver metal not sink into the cracks in between each glass pane? I’m assuming there’s little gaps between each glass pane, because I bet it’s really hard to get the edges exactly lined up perfectly

It's so satisfying when the glass breaks right. When you feel that snap...oh, yeah.

Do put the piece together as a whole and then just run the flux over the copper or do you have to do both side of the piece with the flux ??

I’ve never seen that masking tape trick before. Are you putting that on the back or front of the piece ? What side do you solder first?

It is so beautiful ⭐️my question is how to you get the pieces to fit ?
@cutjoin
@cutjoin 8 ай бұрын
I create a patter, gut the pieces according to the pattern and then use a grinder to smooth out the edges and get them just the right shape to all fit together!
@asmritgirls
@asmritgirls 8 ай бұрын
Is it important to use the grinder for the shape, or can one just go on with a stone for shaping?

I think molten lead was used back in the day. Now they probably use some sort of resin/plastic.

After the glass is cut, which is only the first step you see here. Then the glass has to be ground on a grinding machine, cleaned dry, then foiled with copper tape. You have to lay out the panel and secure it, apply flux between each join of tape so you can begin soldering!

I hear that a lot, the copper foil is super shiny and pretty! There is a copper patina that I finish some pieces with, but I don't use it much. It's not quite as shiny as the tape
