The pandemic didn't help, and also mega corps buying up suppliers and manufacturing capacity. Also, start up money dried up when interest rates went up. It's hard enough starting a normal business. Starting up a AR/VR business in those circumstances is even harder. The tech is there, the passion seems to clearly be there, and they've been transparent about funding problems along with the difficulty getting manufacturers to produce the smaller number of headsets. They have shipped something hundreds of headsets. But it seems they're having trouble getting funding for the rest of em'. So I would say it's the "well meaning idea" option for sure.

@@shableep UPDATE: I just recieved them. Amazed at how well they work, at first I thought the lines would be a problem, but then I figured out how to properly put on my glasses with them and they work like a charm.

You can't access the cameras passthrough mode as a developer on Meta's Quest 3 but with this headset you can.

For me, as long as I get it I am happy. Quest 2 and 3 require you to have a facebook account and telemetry which you can't disable.

Been using this device for some time, due to work. It's utter shit. I don't recommend anyone buying this. The image quality is bad. No documentation. Bad build quality. Software is bad. Support is non-existing.

Yeah, kickstarter is not a good place to kickstart hardware unless people who are there already have been manufacturing things. It often ends in either very very long delays, or non-delivery.

You're ignorant. It is incredibly incredibly difficult to start a business, and lynx is actually doing incredibly well considering their circumstances. They created a product that competes head-to-head with the quest 2, which was created by a practically monopolistic gigantic mega-corporation. And you might forget that they did this around the same time that the quest 2 was coming out, even if they ran into production delays. They used novel hardware such as their unique lenses, that they had to convince backers of. If lynx had the resources that those companies had, you guys wouldn't be saying anything, because you'd have your devices already. How can you say something is a scam when they have an actual physical product that has been demo'd at events? And some devices have actually been shipped? They are trying their best, and you should be on thankful just that they got this far instead of taking the money and running. If you backed the kickstarter without understanding that this was a startup, and expected you'd get your new headset the next month, then that's on you, not them.

They are doing their best, and if you haven't noticed, they're actually getting somewhere!
