Can you please teach the water system when it comes to testing the water with the pressures and gauges? I don’t know if there is a biomed that works at your clinic or facility that can actually go through video step-by-step basically performing a test.

Try a chronic dialysis unit. DaVita or Fresenius. After 6 months to a year on the job then apply at a hospital. Hope that helps!

@@joannamccloud I never wanted one until I saw Brumate… I started off with the smaller one and just upgraded to a bigger one, which I love a little bit more because my work days can be 13-15 hours…

@@DiamondJoyJoy I’m in Florida too, yes cold water is essential 😆 I even left my cup in the hot car for two hours, by accident, I was worried but thank goodness it was still ice cold water ! Also yes they are a bit pricy but it’s so worth it!

I have a few questions. Are there larger dialyzers for home hemo so it would clean faster/more? Also if a patient isn’t meeting clearance with labs is there a way a nephrologist can override the clearance being 1.2 or higher if it makes the patient very ill even running at 3 hours 3x per week at home on Nxstage? Yes there are larger dialyzers. It depends on what the company you're with is using. F160 is the smallest at my facility. Then F180, F200, and F250 F means Fresenius👀... This also can be adjusted based on the patient weight. The heavier you are the more likely you will have a bigger dialyzer. (I always think the doctor and nurse should try and work with the patient as best as possible, even if it means repeating labs more than 2-4 times a month....) They can increase your pump speed depending on what the manufacturer recommends for the home dialysis machine your using and needle size. Usually the majority of patients are on a 15 g. needle which should be ran at a max pump speed of 450, but i've seen it as high as 500 depending on the doctor and company. 14 gauge needles are def meant for a pump speed of 500 because the gauge is bigger and you have less chance of hemolysis. With Kt/V the lowest you can achieve is 1.2 but for home patients (who can dialyze more often) doctors try to achieve the goal of 1.4 which ultimately means you're getting a better cleaning which is what will make patients feel better because more toxins are being removed.
