really nice motor! I love these old two strokes but I am personally partial to the new 4 strokes just to avoid mixing oil and gas.

@@shanevl85 very stable and good handling boat. Have had outboard work done with two different boat mechanics who have described it the same way after water testing it. The 125 Mercury is a little over kill you can get away with a lot less horsepower. Overall a good boat.

@@moraruvalentin6126 was possibly the fact I was running 50:1 oil to fuel ratio when the outboard was meant to run 100:1. Not sure if that was the full story or not but have sold the engine awhile ago.

If you'll take care of those old Johnsons they'll run forever. I restored my 1985 Lowe with a 1985 Johnson 40 hp and it still runs like the day I bought it. I have no idea how many hours that engine has on it. Dealers tell you it won't hurt to run them wide open, I don't do that. 3/4 throttle is more fuel efficient, doesn't hurt the engine, and it isn't much slower. The people who say it doesn't hurt them to run them hard also sell new engines. Think about that.

Hi nice videos. I have a issue and maybe you can help me 😊. I have a semirrigid valiant D250 boat (Max 6hp) with a older DT4 outboard. I use it for fishing on the Barcelona Mediterranean coast. Now I have a offer of a DT5 for a good price and I don't know if keep my DT4 or go for that extra 1hp. Do you think that will make the difference? What do you think? My doubts: Will that 1hp make a difference on speed and planing? The DT4 it's cheaper and simpler to maintain?
@RRF22
@RRF22 4 ай бұрын
@@josefialho6650 the dt5 is it completely different motor. twin cylinder with no internal fuel tank. As far as speed and planing the 5 is a little faster on plan and in overall speed but no by much. I have a few videos on the 5 hp and suggest checking them out, I have yet to do a full video on the 4 hp properly at this stage.
@josefialho6650

@@RRF22 thanks for your feedback. I have seen the other videos but on video it's difficult to se a small difference. I also have the opportunity to buy a DT8 and with your comment, maybe it will be my choice. The thing it's that my DT4 it's from 1996, the DT5 it's from 2003 and the DT8 it's from 1986. I supose that the ages at this point aren't so important, the issue it's the use and care that each owner have given. Thanks for sharing 😉👌🏻
