People don't realize just how unique nazi Germany was. The entire industrialized world wanted to do everything necessary to ensure Germany would never again be able to be a superpower. Other than communism it was the only real threat to the world order, and leftism obviously won out.

at the time (and for a long time thereafter), the Brits were really hung up on divorce: there was an unwritten rule in the British military that if an officer (and gentleman) was presented with a divorce suit (request? decree?), it was only honorable that he resign his commission - it just so happened during WW2 when a major general got a letter from a flunky at headquarters, telling him his wife had asked for a divorce and 'you need to turn in your sword' - at the time he was running the anti-Japanese efforts in Burma and couldnt be spared - his boss (i think it was Mountbatten) fired off a letter to HQ and no more was ever said.

Not even capitalism could create a trillionaire, that being said, Stalin was the first and only trillionaire that ever existed, simply because he owned the entire state, he even created private metro lines just for himself, he was an leftist absolute fascist dictator and ruled it all

So... Kazakhstan should have the permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council, as they were the successor state to the USSR?

Wrong. USA have opened a few campaigns from 1958-1964 to try if they could invade the north and they habe been always pushed back, the casualties will be too big if they tried pushing up to the north 🙄. Plus Soviet Union is another reason

Because the European powers profited from the Barbary Pirates raids. But the US Marines and Navy put the screws to the pirates and their European cohorts.

New France was ceded to Britain after the seven year war. England got New France in exchange for the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. At least, that is what I learned in school and is also written on a wall painting in Guadeloupe's capital...

It's so weird to know that there are people old enough to still have lived in Prussia. It almost feels like a bridge to the old world and eventually it will all be gone.

BRITAIN'S first 'H-bombs', tested in 1957, were not H-bombs at all, but a bluff to convince the world that Britain was still a first-rate power, according to research to be published tomorrow. At the time, the report's authors say, it probably even fooled the Americans for a while. It provoked an interest in the British nuclear programme that ended with the US giving Britain the means to manufacture true H-bombs in exchange for access to British ideas and designs for future weapons. According to the research, the secret of the bluff was confined to top nuclear scientists and inner government circles.
