Salve María Fr. Ryan is good to have you back giving us the Gospel commentary! Your commentary comes at the right time! I’ve embarked in a year of discernment with the 3rd Order Discalced Carmelites. It is fitting what you advise here! I will pray for the graces to recognize the Lord’s and our Lady’s signs to know where they would want me. My heart is with the Heralds but the nearest house if 5 hrs away. Nonetheless The Carmel is very close to the hearts of the Heralds as yr Founders are both 3rd Order Carmelites. Keep me in prayer Fr. I’m exited but want to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit above my wishes! Always praying for my dear Priests!

Maybe if signs were actually given/shown after being a prayerful, devoted child of God - there wouldn't be so much despondency in this world.

We all have attachment to some physical things in our lives. They are not always possession of items, but can be other things. Like our looks, our physiques, our social relationships, our accomplishments. We came into this world with nothing and we will leave this world with nothing. So we must be willing to willing to give up everything in this life. I'm not a wealthy person, but I do have possessions that I am willing to give up and to give the money to others, as I approach the end of this life, but I am not willing to sell everything and to give the money away and to put myself in a position of personal need and dependency. That would be foolish. As we age, we should become less attached to the physical and to become willing to give up our possessions.
