I miss these times, they were so different of the times of today, I used to go to Eastridge as well as the Sunnyvale mall, back in the late 70s Mayfield mall on Central over here in Mountain View. Simpler times.

My first time in Eastridge Mall in San Jose, CA was back in April/May 2004. I was 11 years old and I just finished 5th Grade going to 6th Grade. I had so many fond memories here going to GameStop, Toys R Us, F.Y.E., Barnes & Noble, & Circuit City across the mall. Now in October 2023 I visited back and I noticed every store I listed has been gone since then. Good Times indeed

wow..thanks so much for that memory trip. I grew up in the 90s in San Jose. That mall was always packed. Love going there as a kid especially in 92' (7yrs old). It was that year at Eastridge my dad bought me a SNES. You also filmed the pet shop on the corner! (lol)...I was there always. Too bad you didnt film the big arcade room at the corner of the mall.

Are the hills full of houses now? Also, anyone who missed out on the 80s and 90s, I'm so sorry. I'm fairly sure that was the zenith of our particular society. Capitalism was still fairly benign, and "Trickle-down (read: voodoo) Economics" hadn't yet sunk it's teeth into American finances. There was a large middle class and the opportunities were endless. If you studied and worked hard, you could be anything you wanted, and make a good living while doing it. The future was bright, and not just in a nuclear way- That's gone now, and I'm so sorry y'all missed it

If you were into tech, Silicon Valley was an awesome place to grow up in the '80s too. My dad took random odd jobs putting together telecom modules for $100/pop, and I would help him solder some components onto boards back in then.

Youre right, if youve lived through the 80s and 90s it really does feel like america is declining nowadays because of how good it felt. You really felt the decline through the 2000s though...especially around 2005-2008

Me and my family would use to go to Eastridge, and other malls, once every other few months, in the early 90's. Just for shopping, site seeing, and hitting the arcade. Watching this video is giving me flashbacks, and a bit emotional, because of what the mall was like back then compared to todays.

No it wasn't 3 stories, it had a very interesting split level, multilevel design. Almost all the mall was 2 stories but it varied in different heights depending on what part of it you were in as the heights were staggered and started at different elevations. There were parts of the mall that did have a third story sandwiched in between the first and second story but it was a small part of the whole. There wasn't a story removed because planes hit it! It was struck a few times by small aircraft since the Reid-Hillview airport is right next door, this is true but a story wasn't removed!
