in the intro sample, you can easily hear the difference in sound, that using a sampler makes. the premo version has grittier sound, less high frequencies and a lower bit rate. this is called FLAVOR

@ 5:21 D'Angelo - Me & Those Dreaming Eyes Of Mine (Jay Dee Remix) thats where i remembered it from. The book, "Dilla Time" by Dan Charnas put me onto that remix just a few short years ago now. beautiful stuff.

9th Wonder is easily one of the greatest producers of my generation. My late friend Mike turn me on to Little Brother in my mid-20's and I had to seek out anything and everything that 9th ever produced. Pretty sure I listen to nothing but God's Stepson for a year straight the second I ripped it onto my iPod.

the red sample not being cleared is the worst thing to ever happen, all those records being destroyed is awful, it somehow ending up in tony hawk project 8 no clearance is easily the greatest thing to ever happen tho

I've been down with Madlib since the Lootpack days of the late '90s. It's interesting to see him achieve this mythical status in hip hop today. He's literally the Thelonious Monk of hip hop.

The “We can get down” sample in this video is not correct. The sample is from “Martin’s Funeral” by Bill Cosby.
