would the smoke generator be able to be mounted in an engine not made by marklin like from bachmann or hornby

A great tutorial, thank you! I am looking for help regarding when the spring wire breaks that holds the brushes in place. I have two loco's with this issue. Any help is appreciated!
@ajckids5 ай бұрын
You can buy the motor covers as spare replacement parts. That would be imo the easiest way to fix that issue!
@adamdelarozza19856 ай бұрын
Marklin M track woulduse the side connections , that is what the booster hooks up to? I'm thinking that's what they are there for.
@ajckids5 ай бұрын
The side connections on the old M-track typically are there to supply power to that track portion. So you can indeed hook up a booster to one of those tracks. Before you connect the booster, make sure that the track portion is not powered by anything else. Use an AC voltmeter and test the track, or place a passenger car with interior lights on the track.

Does the real locomotive have a foot pedal horn
@mikedulle11498 ай бұрын
I don't get the placement of digital contact track and the actual physical contact track. Don't you need to place the digital contact where the physical contact is on the layout?
@ajckids7 ай бұрын
The actual physical contact track is used in digital. It sends the signal (pulse) through a single wire to a "feedback" decoder, often referred to as an S-88. This feedback decoder has 16 inputs for 16 contact tracks. It adds a digital number to each input. The Central Station will get the pulse send from your contact track, and reads the number that the S-88 attached to it. It then will do the action that you have programmed in the Central Station. This action could be switching a turnout, or changing a signal etc.
@mikedulle11497 ай бұрын
That didn't answer my question. On one's track plan the contact track image should be placed on the track diagram at the location of physical contact track. However none of the videos indicate where to place the digital image. You need to clarify the placement of the digital and physical contact track.
@ajckids5 ай бұрын
You place the digital contact track on your track plan in the same relative location as where you have the actual (physical) contact track on your layout. Meaning: If on your layout the contact track is to the left of your actual (physical) turnout S1, you place it on your digital screen layout to the left of S1. The only reason you do it this way, is so that it makes sense to you. So that you can identify which digital image contact track corresponds with your actual (physical) contact track.

Yes it does have a horn, but quite frankly I do not know if it was located inside or outside.

I’m a North American HO scale modeler and recently purchased my first PIKO product which was the Southern Pacific KM4000 mit sound. The US market has always been waiting for one of our domestic model manufacturers to bring one to market but it fell on deaf ears. The sales success PIKO has had here is amazing the major retail model outlets/vendors since they had no idea the demand was so strong. And if this KM4000 is an example of the overall quality of your products then I advise producing more North American railroad models in HO scale and a little bit of N scale. The units we’d like to see is the Union Pacific U50C and the Southern Pacific DD40 and DD35. All of the units I mentioned are the larger sized locomotives similar to the size of the DDA-40X so there’s a lot of interior space under the shell to place PC boards, weights, speakers, etc. Southern Pacific also tested another European diesel-hydraulic locomotive, I forget the nomenclature at the moment but those of us that wanted the KM4000 will also buy the other type to complete the set so please consider this for future production as well. I really appreciate your time and you were smart for setting up production in Hong Kong, I advised Scale Trains when they began production a few years ago to prospect for possible alternate production facilities in India or other countries that are capable of fine detail work as your current factory employees. I,lived in Germany for 6 years while I was in the US Army and I miss my German friends and the beautiful country dearly, I’d move back there in a heartbeat if given the chance, best times of my life. I wish you well friends. Kevin DeVos Infantry.

Die LED Lampen gefallen mir überhaupt nicht. Da hätten Glühbirnen mit Schraubfassung dran gehört.
@ajckids9 ай бұрын
Andreas mentions that he does not like the LED lights on this model... the good old "glow" lightbulbs should have been installed. We completely agree, and hope that the LED bulbs can be replaced for the original style bulbs. We will see and investigate when the model gets released.
@andreashausb81939 ай бұрын
@@ajckids i would only buy the crocodile, when the bulbs can be replaced. But I fear, that this is impossible. When you look into the video then have a look on the detail, when color of light changes from white to red. That is not realized with a normal LED (with to pins). So in my opinion, there will be no chance to change to "analog light bulbs". But we will see...

Nice video, but have a question, the body of the locomotive seems to be of plastik, the smoke generator becomes very hot, will this not been a problem for the locomotive body ?
@ajckids11 ай бұрын
Only the top part ("chimney") sits in the body, and the little generated heat is not harmful to the locomotive.

They would both be activated. If it would be an odd situation where one output wants to set a turnout to *straight*, and the other output would want to set the same turnout to *curved*, the one who gives up the earliest will loose.

What is the point to connecting the MS2 to the CS3? I don't see any advantage to do it.
@ajckids Жыл бұрын
It can function as a nice additional hand controller. Handy to -for example- allow a spectator to control a train, and join the fun, or to dedicate the controller to just one specific locomotive, for you to grab and control without switching locomotives on the CS3..
@YoavSamuelLiberman Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing this informative video. I own this model, and I am unsure if I understood what the locomotive's radius limitations are and how the clip-on parts hinder its ability to take on curves? Can you refer me to relevant data on this issue?
@ajckids Жыл бұрын
In general, some detail parts (these parts are often included in plastic bags with the model, but not yet attached), will hinder/obstruct the trucks. For our tighter curves like the R1 (24130), the locomotive has to be able to swivel it's trucks quite extensively. Add-on parts often block this rotation. It's a trade off. Our layouts do not always allow for nice large radii curves.

@ajckids Жыл бұрын
The digital (Motorola) address may be the same, but the MFX address will always be an unique address. Simply make certain that those locomotives are registered using their MFX address. Which means they have to register themselves through the automated process to the CS3.

Hello Barry, Yes, that's it. Suitable power supply and the CS3. The CS3 will have a connector with 2 wires that go to the track. The only thing you will need is a way to connect those two wires to the track (a feeder track). But presumably you already have that from your old analog transformer connection!
