This clip is too short . Leslie also made a stunning kind of reverence pose there and then , after which the cast next to her was amazed of her class and strength at her age , but that is cut short and not shown here .

Christopher Wheeldon speaks clearly and to the point. He demonstrated movements to Robbie Fairchild - Wheeldon started as a ballet dancer in NYC Ballet before he became a choreographer.

Interesting that every supporting character has been given a background.

Christopher Wheeldon has my great admiration for what he has seen and accomplished with this musical. He didn't change the story, he didn't change the characters. He respected the original film and especially the Gershwin music. He brought out the best in everyone. This is a beautiful show and from the excerpts I've viewed, well worth seeing.

The charm and beauty of this show owes it all - not all to the Gershwins though a lot to the Gershwins - but to Christopher Wheeldon's unerring respect for the material. Robbie Fairchild's choreography echoes Gene Kelly, for example. Compare it to the mess that was made to Camelot because the director had no respect for Lerner and Loewe and the predecessors in the major roles. Camelot was rewritten and the characters unrecognizable. I'd never want to see it, it is a bowdlerization.

Leanne really brings out character of Lise, things we wouldn't know. Why was she in hiding? Was she Jewish?

Yes, Lise’s character is Jewish in this version!

She was even nominated for an Oscar for her highly praised leading role in "The L-shaped Room" (1962). A few years later she was the leading lady of David Niven and Cary Grant. Not "over" at all.

I’m favorites from the show include: Lise’s pale yellow dress during the second act Lise’s blue dress with the white polka dots in the first act And Lise’s polka dot dress during the song “Liza” Runner ups: the mint green jacket the Lise wears in the first act, milo’s red dress and milo’s beige dress, that’s all I really have! Have a great day!

There is a great tragedy with this show. Fairchild and Cope are absolutely incredible together, the veritable pairing "made in heaven". But after this show, what other vehicle exists that matches their almost unique combined talents. It seems a loss that they probably must eventually return separately to the world of ballet ─ a wonderful world but not one that explores their combined and multifaceted talents as does American in Paris. To see them work together in this is an enormously treasured and rare experience. I am writing after the show went to London and that is also now concluded. Where to now for this incomparable duo?

And yet casts are changed all the time. There are other actor/dancers in Jerry Mulligan's role. There are just so many hugely talented people. I agree Fairchild/Cope was a unique pairing. But they have understudies and an understudy took the role that Fairchild originated.

Just saw her dance in '"An American In Paris" last night @ The Orpheum Theater in Memphis, and, to put it mildly, she is poetry in motion! Very few human beings have ever moved with such grace!!!!!

The effort being put into the show seems to deeply express how the characters and storytellers value the importance of great art! I value art personally as a gift to us as a symbol of the world's grace and beauty in the face of the issues we face in society today.

I'm seeing the show next month in Costa Mesa on tour! Lise seems to be getting some interesting character fleshing with her being a ballet girl in training in the aftermath of war.

It seems interesting that they were not trying to make a carbon copy of this Gene Kelly classic. A story about the aftermath of war is what America needs right now!

How about folks interested in auditioning for the mostly non-dance roles? (Thinking particularly of Mme. Baurel.) I know the tour is cast, but am hoping it will have a good long run, and that understudies, standbys, and/or replacements may be needed eventually.
