No offense intended . But my understanding of reading about jacob in the bible was that he stole his brothers birthright for some red lentils. I know some persons say it was ordained because God's angle told his mother before birth that it would be this way . Others joke that he had made a great deal ..either way i really dont think his own brother would have believed that he would steal it . Then on top of that jacob stole his brothers blessings from his father . At the behest of his mother , but he still did it . And even though his mother said she would take the repercussions it was his free will to listen and to fool his father . Jacob may have been distressed because he knew his guilt . Realize he was not called Israel until after he wrestled with God. Why were they wrestling to begin with ?? Was it because he had betrayed his brother ?? Maybe the mother mistook the angel's words as a prophecy instead of a warning. Im not a scholar, just some thoughts about jacob. He was a better man though after wrestling with God. Peace to your countrymen. Peace to the world.

Very nice preaching. In the beginning. Of course, the middle and ending were necessary. However, I'd have left more room for more of an uplifting ending although I imagine no one really feels uplifted, presently. I do however, feel bad for the families of the new baby and the bar mitzva to be singled out and their celebrations be here associated with such awful events. Bless them and let them quickly forget that part.
