Aussies will race anything 😂 Total nutters ❤😂 I ❤ Australia. I can’t see Network Rail authorizing this. Mind you they did encourage the 60163 guys to do the ton when Tornado ran a night trial, so who knows? As for my lot, SNCF, absolutely no chance 😢

In 1968 as a trainee Engineman we would race from the "Roundhouse" (shed workshop really) to the fuel pumps in 48 and 42 class diesels. Hold em with brakes full on and open em up to notch 8 and one of the lads would drop a handky! The first 10 ft would take 10 seconds, then the next 200 ft would take 10 seconds. Afternoon shift of course. (Don't tell anyone) Pt Kembla. Went from there to driving Bantam Class steam with Gary Luck at BHP on the slag. 100 in 5 ladels up front and 100 ton in 5 behind. Aaaaah those were thu days!!! 👍👍👍

Big thank you to the posting person and also to the hard working volunteers from the Thirlmere Heritage Rail Museum. The vision shot from the cockpit of the old biplane is reminescent of another on YT where the beautiful Victorian built Spirit of Progress raced a plane from Melbourne to Albury back in 1937. Th Spirit was an amazing Aussie built train and years ahead of its' time. 3801 here often hauled the Newcastle Flyer after she was built in Sydney in 1943. She hauled the Flyer cars on a record breaking run back in `1964 setting a time of two hours and one minute for the 150km / 100 miles trip. The trip is not an easy one and includes the crossing of the Hawkesbury River area with its' several inclines

please, a single bush fire gives off a million times more pollution than these engines on a once a year race.
