Here we are in 2023 still rocking to this video! Amy has that smile and Emily is rocking the banjo. I remember those days and now at 63 - oh god. It makes me feel so alive and free. And this song is as important now as it was 15 years ago. !

Shame on You Indigo Girls Album: Shaming of the Sun My friends they wash the windows And they shine in the sun They tell me wake up early in the morning sometime See what a beautiful job we've done I say let's put on some tunes Sing a long and dolittle all day Go down to the riverside take off our shoes And wash these sins away And the river said La la la it said shame on you And the river said La la la it said shame on you I go down to Chicano City park Cause it makes me feel so fine And when the weeds go down you can see up close In the dead of the winter time But when the summer comes everything's in bloom And you wouldn't know it's there And the white folks like to pretend it's not But their music's in the air And you can hear 'em singing La la la they said shame on you You can feel em dancing La la la they said shame on you My friend Tanner she says you know Me and Jesus we're of the same heart The only thing that keeps us distant Is that I keep fuckin' up I said come on down to Chicano City park And wash your blues away The beautiful ladies walk right by You know i never know what to say And they'll be singing Ooo la la la la la la la la shame on you And they'll be dancing Ooo la la la they said shame on you Shame on you Let's go road block trippin in the middle of the night Up in Gainesville town There'll be blue lights flashin down the long dirt road When they ask me to step out They say we've been looking for illegal immigrants Can we check your car? I say you know it's funny I think we were on the same boat back in 1694 Composer, Lyricist: A. Ray ℗ 1997 Sony Music Entertainment Inc.

This is what I've learned so far Everything is grey Few things are forever and it hurts when good things fade you can't be my everything And I am not half you but you can make it all worth while and that's why I love you... When you look at me, am I incomplete am I missing something everybody else can clearly see when you look at me... I have tasted happiness The innocence of joy do we pay a price for every moment we enjoy I could make you promises But even I can't say if everything I feel for you will never go away When you…

Oh my goodness I am most certain that it was. I have adored immensely female musicians the past two decades. The first time I ever saw Natalie Merchant (shaking my hand there at the University of Utah after I gave her a full bouquet of a dozen polished steel roses I made for her in 1999) was in 1997 at San Francisco Lilith. I was awestruck by her and the other artists there, of course Sarah was remarkable. I saw Lilith v2.0 in Park City, Ut. and Sarah once again solo later on in Ct and Natalie eight more times solo nationwide. She totally flipped out our last meeting Dec, 2014 Pa when she saw and signed both my MAANIAC and NAM4LYF Ut license plates. I have and will forever and a day cherish those photographs of us together. At that moment my precious Natalie-Anne was in utero and only an inch long, now she is such a big and healthy five year old girl. My princess, my blood, my angel. I can only hope and pray ONE FINE DAY she meets her namesake and I will pretty much die right then and there the happiest man and father that ever walked the face of our earth. Hahaha.

I did some sleuthing. It had to be one of these shows from '97 (the only year Jewel was a part of it, along with the others) -August 15-16, 1997 Molson Amphitheatre, Toronto, ON (Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Indigo Girls, Shawn Colvin & Meredith Brooks) -August 17, 1997 Stade DuMaurier, Montreal, QC (Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Indigo Girls, Shawn Colvin & Meredith Brooks) -August 19, 1997 Marcus Amphitheatre, Milwaukee, WI (Sarah McLachlan, Indigo Girls, Jewel, Shawn Colvin & Meredith Brooks) -August 20, 1997 Canterbury Park, Shakopee, MN (Sarah McLachlan, Indigo Girls, Jewel, Shawn Colvin & Meredith Brooks)

Matthew Shepherd? Were I to write a song professing the benefit that was inspired by, and in spite of that tragedy, how would it be seen? Does this community profess any valuing of persons that says to those villains, "life we do redeem"? Some did cry out for rightly, and yet a weapon against those may be all he has grown to mean? Media junkies! Flippant the worth of everyone! Community? Family? Team? So so defeated, you exist as the cruel of perpetually degrading before pro-choice?! Human value here is never regarded as so fleeting! Amen.
