The Midwest techno scene in the middle 90's was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run... But no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were here and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant.

I’d love to hear more about this era and place, particularly Chicagoland, if you have any experience with that? I was born just a bit too late to experience it but love to hear about it and get nostalgia for the simpler times of the 90’s.

Anyone listening to the first 18 minutes and wondered whether to comment about this video being a fake and not Jeff Mills? Well, it is JM …after around 18 minutes mark, but before that it’s definitely not him 💯

Big talent, he and Richard Turner destroyed House Of God back in `01 and felt they both would kick on after that but the User series still is a how-to-do-it when it comes to rocking a floor

I think the technology has evolved and changed the music nowadays for better or for worse its all just a matter of opinion
@aidanjohnkelly6 ай бұрын
The technology he was playing on back then (Serato/Final Scratch with a laptop) isn't a million miles away from what DJs play on today, if you read the liner notes on "Decks, FX and 909" he was already lamenting the limitations of the vinyl format (or at least the enhanced version of it he played with on that album), by the time he got onto DE9: Closer to the Edit, turntables had disappeared completely from his setup. I know it's a matter of opinion, but I find it hard to think of a single example of a DJ who I liked more when they moved to digital, but can think of tons who were far better on vinyl (Dave Clarke and Richie Hawtin are two that immediately come to mind). Vinyl will always remain, but as a minority interest, it's cost and bulk just don't make it practical for professional DJs who do a lot of travelling.

Used to love pressure!! I used to call Richie “boys techno” as it was hard hitting bangers 😂. Still loved it…! I worked Inside Out nights at Arches so I could get a guestie for Pressure…never missed a Pressure 😅🤯 still standing today…😂
