What angle gets the hose to fit into the bottom area and how much were you able to get out/put back in? I ended up only using maybe 90% of 1qt between both the rear diff and transfer case. Roughly .45qt in each.

@@vica153 I tried to bend and push the hose to the bottom of the diff/transfer case. One bottom is enough to do both front and rear change, but I did the front transfer case twice, as the oil drained from the front looks more degraded.

@@eyhpoon Yeah, since the TCase is easy enough to get at and uses a small amount of fluid, I think I'll probably do a drain&fill on it whenever I do an engine oil change.

I have the same car as yours. I want to replace the rocker cover gasket. Would you please show me some tips, where did you order the genuine Volvo parts in Down Under?
@eyhpoon
@eyhpoon 20 күн бұрын
I have never tried replacing the valve cover myself. I remember around 50000km, the dealer replaced the entire cover. It depends on what I need, I do quite a bit of research around for what I need and pricing. For example, I bought the oil kit/fluid kit/Brake kit from FCP in USA (although not genuine), shipping is very expensive but I think its important to get the right spec of products in these cases. The genuine Volvo tie rods however (plus a set of genuine rim, used but very new), genuine cabin filters and wiper blades, I bought them from auto supplies in China because that gives me a best price including shipping cost (because there is sea freight available, but buying from Europe/USA I have to used expensive services like UPS/Fedex/DHL). You can also try local Volvo dealer to order parts, but normally not the cheapest option. Brake fluid and Coolant, I just use the local product which meet the specs.

It is not a lot of difference, but the bigger rotors give a big more progressive braking. Shipping from the States from us unfortunately is very expensive.

@@rontan8954 Nothing wrong with the standard size rotors and pads for normal driving in my opinion. Just need regular replacements. Did you have to 'manually' fully retract the parking brake to fit thicker new pads?
@eyhpoon
@eyhpoon 2 ай бұрын
@@vica153 Yes, for the rear calipers, first need to retract the parking brake by taking the motor off and use a socket to turn the shaft (clockwise) at the back of the caliper, then use a caliper tool to push the piston back all the way.

Bleeding brakes solo, I hook the vacuum up to the bleeder on the caliper and pull the old fluid that direction. Still in short bursts and checking to keep the reservoir topped up. Start the whole process by vacuuming all the old dirty brake fluid out of the reservoir and filling with fresh. Vacuum at the reservoir is probably ideal for pulling out any possible air in the system, but it also can introduce air at the caliper if you have any leaks in the attached hoses.

I did this on my XC70 yesterday so it is still very fresh in my mind. My transmission fluid was filthy, I don't believe it has been changed before (Car has done 180,000kM). I have a VDD dongle from D5T5 so I can read transmission temperature on my phone. Unfortunately my driveway is bad for cellular coverage so I ended up guessing. A laser thermometer should work well though. Plenty of other little maintenance jobs to do, have flushed the power steering, so next job with my AWD car will be Haldex and rear differential.

Some tires shops are horrible at this and completely depends on the guy doing it. I only go to someone I personally know that will do it free of charge making sure it's perfect. Also, most roads are crowned so you will always have to hold way one unless you're on a truly flat road.

Don't think you can drain the Haldex fluid without removing the pump motor as there is no drain plug. Also removing the motor give us a chance to clean the fine dust that get accumulated.

I honestly don't know about the counter, would it matter if I don't reset it?
@sirobb
@sirobb 3 ай бұрын
@@eyhpoonThe Transmission Control Module (TCM) registers ATF temperatures above a certain threshold. As the count increases over time, the TCM will modify the change profile to compensate for the age and condition of the fluid. You now have new fluid in which can handle higher temperatures but the TCM doesn't know this so the old fluid temperature counts are being added to the new fluid count. This means that the TCM could eventually be using a sub optimal change profile unnecessarily and prematurely. All of the above is dependant on transmission fluid history and individual conditions so none of it may be *absolutely necessary* or all of it will be absolutely essential. I don't know your exact circumstances but there is a process. Likewise with the fluid temperature. That temperature range means the fluid is at a specific volume. Too cool, you won't drain enough when setting the level, too hot, you may drain too much. Whether you do all this is personal choice but from experience of doing work myself, I do it like the manufacturer says unless I have a really good reason to be different. The reset process is shown in my video here along with a fluid change on a similar gearbox. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5K0ZompeMuAetE Hope that helps.

Hi, I bought this kit www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-complete-drivetrain-service-kit-aisin-31256775kt, which came with 1 bottle of Volvo 31367941, and 2 bottles of 75w90. For the Haldex, I used no more than half a bottle. Also for the 75w90, two bottles are more than enough for me to do front transfer case drain and fill twice, and rear diff drain and fill once. Just be careful when you disassemble the Haldex pump, there is small bearing at the end of the motor and may come off when you remove the wire mesh case.
