Yes, many low vision artists use magnifiers to assist them. Reach out to Irie-AT via email or give us a call. We'll be happy to talk about what you are trying to do and recommend something that fits you best. Contact info is in the comments. Something like CloverBook Plus XL can be useful for art, since there is lot of space underneath for drawing and even an extendable camera arm if you need more space. But depending on what you are drawing/painting/sculpting/etc, there may also be other options we could suggest you consider.

@IrieAT Thank you for the information! I would be using it mainly for documents and artwork such as drawing and clay models around the 1/24 to 1/18 scale
@IrieAT10 күн бұрын
@@johnmatthewdorion7855 OK, that's helpful, thanks! For documents, you won't find anything better than CloverBook Plus XL, other than perhaps CloverBook Pro XL. For drawing, I also find the CloverBook Plus XL design to be ideal. It adds a factor of difficulty, to draw or write while magnified. But you can adjust to it quickly. What I have problems with is writing (while magnified) while I'm looking "away". For example, on most desktop CCTV's, you are looking up at a screen, while writing on the CCTV tray, below. So, you're looking away from what you're writing. With CloverBook models, there is space to write underneath the screen and the camera is positioned underneath the screen. So, you are looking directly at what you are writing/drawing. For me, that makes it MUCH easier. Plus - while you do have to look "away" while using the additional camera arm - the additional camera arm gives you a massive amount of extra space for larger projects and even sculpting larger designs.

must be a joke? the cost of these systems is mind boggling. No way i would pay that..
@IrieAT2 ай бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately these types of systems are made by small developers who don't have the economy of scale enjoyed by large electronics manufacturers. And - at least in the US - there are very few programs to assist low vision and blind people with purchasing the specialty equipment and software they need to continue reading when vision fails. One thing to note, however. You are probably missing a large part of the cost. When you buy something like this, we open up doors to help you. You have people to call and email or chat who are actual live Americans who know how to use the equipment and will be happy to assist, for no additional fee. There are real people who can often even come to your home; all across the country. You are not stuck calling India or some random call center that will charge you a fee, if you can even find a person there who will train you. There is a huge amount of human support, for this type of product. No joke; we got your back.

Whilst you show it’s possible it’s not functional as a portable device, especially for children going to school in multiple classrooms. Ideally the iPad could be connected as the top screen. And the iPad can mirror on either screen. Ideally both screen will be a touch pad which will negate the need for the clunky buttons also helping to reduce weight. Surely we can do better than this
@IrieAT4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comments. First, I guess we didn't show it well, but you can definitely mirror your phone/table/computer on either the lower or upper screen. You can control either screen via touch, however it is a little odd when using the upper screen since you still use the lower screen for touch control. We are definitely striving for greater functionality for connected devices. This is much easier with Windows and Android, that permit developer access. In fact, SightCare will soon release a new large-screen video magnifier on which you can magnify and control your phone or tablet with the touchscreen. However, full control of your phone/tablet will only be possible if your phone/tablet is running on the Android OS, since they give developers system access. You can only change contrast and magnify on iPhone/iPad, since Apple doesn't permit access to its controls, particularly for the small Assistive Technology companies that make devices like CloverBook Pro. We are too small and insignificant to them to matter. If you have complaints about this, please direct them toward Apple, if you can even find a real person at the company to whom you can complain. We're more than happy to give users full control over their iPhone or iPad with the touchscreen on SightCare magnifiers; we just can't if they don't let us 'in'.

And the dude doing most of it and editing all of it can't even wear his glasses on set because the lights reflect. Talk about lights and reflections; it can be crazy difficult to get video of screens that - even with matte coating - will reflect light and obscure the view. Please bear with us as we learn better how to use the cameras and equipment that was completely foreign to us only a few years ago. You really make good videos, thank you very much! Not sure, can you control your tablet or IPhone with the first or second (touch)screen of the Clearbook Pro? Or can you just watch by these screens? I compared it with Reinecker Vision Mano Edu, but Clearbook Pro have the option of input with the Mini HDMI. By comparing with Magnilink Tab 2, the Clearview could have the better downside camera, but the point, that you can use it as PC/tablet in one is a plus. What do you think?
@IrieAT6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the compliment! And thanks for watching! You can view your PC/tablet/phone through the mini-HDMI connection on CloverBook Pro, as shown. But you cannot control your device, only view it. The magnification and contrast can be changed, but you cannot enter menus and things like that on your computer/tablet by using the CloverBook Pro touchscreen. Magnilink Tab is a full computer, which has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are somewhat obvious, but many people don't also consider the much longer time it takes to start up the device, versus something like CloverBook Pro that starts up almost instantly. You also need to connect the camera and run the cord, versus just fold it out like on CloverBook Pro. The cost of Magnilink Tab is also thousands more than CloverBook Pro. I guess these are probably the main reasons most people are now choosing something like CloverBook Pro and simply buying a separate laptop; there is more flexibility, lower cost and easier to keep batteries running all day (CloverBook Pro has a user-replaceable battery and you can even get an extra charger and batteries).

Some people prefer the European way and some the American way. In general, preferences are similar, so the different firmwares have been developed with similar functions and many people don't notice a difference between them. In the United States it is 30, 60, 120. And this, I don't think so, but could it give a flicker in certain artificial light situations? Or is the difference in other things? Thank you! Greetings!
@IrieAT6 ай бұрын
@@GARROTECINE You can change the frame rate on either Looky or Clover 6, in case you travel etc. Either will work well in Argentina. Typically, this would apply to speech models, but one thing you'll prefer with Clover is that we ensure Latin Spanish is onboard and not Castilian (however, I should mention that Looky models sold through Irie-AT and our dealers have been changed to include Latin Spanish). We also collect user feedback from users throughout the Americas and integrate those preferences in the American firmware. Depending on the Clover model, the changes can be slight, like defaulting the power button to default to "off" instead of "sleep" to avoid an extra step to power down. The changes are many and integrated throughout the firmware to be based on the preferences gathered from customers throughout S and N America. We also provide free firmware updates as more features are added to the American version of the Clovers' firmware.

We've tested in K-12 classrooms (20-30') with success. For very large lecture halls and auditoriums, we'd recommend a dedicated distance camera, like the new CoaSt. CoaSt plugs into your PC or iPad and gives you a 10x optical zoom (FYI - "optical zoom" means you zoom with no loss of image quality). With CoaSt, you can quite easily view text at a distance that is too small even for a person with perfect vision to see. CoaSt will be released in the USA in April 2024. The distance camera is 4K, with 18x digital zoom at 5 meters. It's great for whiteboard viewing, up to about 30 feet (our opinion, anyway).

CloverNote HD does not currently offer scan & read. For OCR/TTS, look to the CloverBook Pro (irie-at.com/product/cloverbook-pro/).

Hi is the cut paper just a normal A4 size off the shelf? Or it needs to be of a especific thickness/ material ?
@IrieAT10 ай бұрын
You can use paper of varying thickness; from thick braille paper to standard ink printer/copy paper. The main difference will simply be how robust is the braille. But if all you need is a quick shopping list or one-time-use document, thin paper works great. If you cannot find cut-sheet braille paper, you can also substitute a thinner card stock paper you can get at any office store.

I'm a visually impaired musician in a professional role and am very interested in this, particularly the Braille music support. Will there be more videos going more in-depth with what it can do? And is windows 11 support coming soon? That's a concern as Microsoft will end support for windows 10 in 2025. Thanks!
@IrieAT11 ай бұрын
Yes, that's the plan; to make instructional videos. They are in the works, but always take longer than we want. We beefed up the product manual to include more instructional content and you can read that to learn more about how B.Book works for braille music (download manual from this page: irie-at.com/product/b-book-braille-notetaker/). You can read, write, import, export and even listen to braille music with B.Book. It actually all happens in the EsySuite software, which you can also use with a B.Note braille display that is connected to a WIN computer. We expect to have more written tutorials ready soon and then will turn them into helpful videos like we have for Tiger Software Suite and other software and devices. I'm trying to figure out how to get a few short videos up sooner than later, that demonstrate some of the unique features, like B.Book's ability to work with braille music. While we don't yet have all the tutorials and videos available, we will happily spend time on Zoom, before or after the sale, to ensure people can get going with the device with some assistance or at least know what they are buying. You can update to WIN 11 and soon WIN 11 will come standard. Thanks for your questions! And thanks for watching!

Thank you for this overview. I will be looking into this further. A most important point left out of the video, how much does this cost? Is it thousands of dollars like the braille note Touch Plus? Is there a bookreader that supports bookshare and other accessible online libraries? Is the tech support here in the United States or outsourced to another country? Does it come with a case or do you pay extra for that?
@IrieAT11 ай бұрын
B.Book runs on Windows, so you have a choice of any book reading service you want. More features are being built into the special apps for reading and math (and even music). And if you need something more, just use Windows with your favorite screen reader and use the reading app of your choice. Tech support is available through our dealer network and directly from Irie-AT Technicians, via email and phone, 8AM-5PM PST, weekdays. We also offer free Zoom trainings to get people up and running. There is an attractive, protective carry case included with B.Book. You'll always find updated pricing for the USA on our website product page for B.Book: irie-at.com/product/b-book-braille-notetaker/. Thanks for watching!

What is the maximum size of paper this machine can handle?
@IrieAT Жыл бұрын
The maximum width of paper that will work with the IRIE Braille Buddy is 9 inches. Typically, it is used with Letter-sized paper. You can use tractor-fed paper or individual sheet-fed paper.
@johnfollis2357 Жыл бұрын
@@IrieAT OK. And how many sheets can go into the single sheet feeder at a time?
@IrieAT Жыл бұрын
It is an individual sheet feeder, so just one sheet at a time. This is for when you have special media like labels or something you cannot get on tractor-fed media. For long print jobs, we recommend you use tractor-fed paper to emboss continuously. @@johnfollis2357

@@IrieAT OK. And finally, how many dots per inch resolution is the graphics mode? I was reading in the documentation that it said 17 dots per inch. For some reason I thought it was 50 dots per inch.
@johnfollis2357 Жыл бұрын
Actually I have two more questions. First of all, does the Embosser have a cooling fan inside the unit? I know that most if not all embossers do so I was wondering if this is true with this model as well. And then the other question is generally related to braille paper. They say that the standard size is 11 by 11 inches but then the letter size is 8.5 inches. So why would someone want to use the 11 inch paper verses the 8.5 inch paper or vice versa?

Yes, the IRIE BrailleTrac 120 features PowerDot Braille, for the best braille dot and variable-height tactile graphic. But prices can change, so check out our Irie-AT Braille & Low Vision website to ensure the correct price and see pricing with extended warranty, software and other add-on options. irie-at.com/product/brailletrac-120/

What would you suggest for a tactile graphic embosser for sheetfed paper only for just tactile graphics?
@IrieAT Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. Sorry, I'm not sure I fully understand, but I'll do my best. Really, it all depends on your needs and workflow. If, for example, you need to emboss graphics on special media, you will need a cut-sheet embosser that does tactile graphics, like the IRIE BrailleSheet (and even IRIE Braille Buddy). Or, maybe you want an embosser that can print mostly braille text and only some graphics that don't need to be on special media. In that case, I'd probably point you toward the IRIE BrailleTrac or IRIE Braille Buddy; depending on how much/how often you are embossing (and your paper size requirements). It's always best to just give us a call and ask questions to a live person, so we can really understand your needs. Find our phone or live chat options on our webpage: irie-at.com
