He did a version on a Jack Jones special that is much slower and a beautiful interpretation. Lots of feeling.

There is this historical album by the mysterious producer Jon Moskowitz [does anyone know anything about him?] Based entirely on the mash-up of Frank Sinatra and The Notorious B.I.G. [killed with three pistol shots to the heart]; in particular, the piece that was revealing to me, especially because uninformed of what I would have heard, is "For Every Woman there's a Man" [what a joy!]. For years, this mash-up has almost obsessed me, not understanding why it obsessed me; then I understood, I think I understood ... Sinatra The Voice was the male symbol of White-people; who could yearn to overcome it? Sid Vicious had tried to destroy him so dada with his alcoholic MY WAY ... but basically he ended up being the pissed off irreverent teen who gets angry so much with his dad to kill himself ... Then over the years 80 came the RAP, which was no longer the sublime encounter of Black and White (after 400 years of flogging) represented by Jazz .... No .... It was "the voice that comes from below", the root older, "chthonic" would say James Hillman, deep, dark, the same one that produces earthquakes and swallows and says "be humble" be quiet, man, be quiet ... Then then when you hear it emerge, the voice of BIG, you know tangibly that the summit of the solar and laughing hierarchy represented by Sinatra rests / goes on black foundations ... The earth is gentle, the earth is good, the earth is generous, the earth is silent, the earth is at peace and then to a at some point the earth becomes terrona ... The Chinese proverb: "Defend yourself from the fury of the patient man" occurs

Last night when we were young Love was a star, a song unsung Life was so new, so real so right Ages ago last night Today the world is old You flew away and time grew cold Where is that star that shone so bright Ages ago last night? To think that spring had depended On merely this: a look, a kiss To think that something so splendid Could slip away in one little daybreak So now, let's reminisce And recollect the sighs and the kisses The arms that clung When we were young last night

I really don't think you can compare the two versions. Each stands on it's own. Sinatra's version is very powerful and more dramatic. A classic recording. Bennett's is jazzy with a more upbeat tempo. Listen, it's a great song, especially in the hands of two vocal masters.

Tony actually sings this song better than Frank...he outdoes Frank on a lot of songs in this album thanks to more modern arranging and the great piano playing of Ralph Sharon.

Wow, based on our current president I assumed we were running shy of experts. Well, serves me right considering what they say about assuming. How refreshing to see that's not at all the case. So, what have we here? It's a different tempo, a different key, a small jazz group vs a full orchestra, one's a tenor, the other a baritone, one approach is achingly sincere, the other, full of whimsy. They may as well have been two different songs. "But lets not allow any of that to stand in the way of doing what simply must be done," eh? So Francis gets a thumbs down on this one and must be what, put to death? Oops! I must have seen Tony Bennett 35 times and yes, he's made quite a few recordings which one could argue were better. Better still to enjoy rather than argue and with the realization that praise doesn't make anything sound better and all the condemnation in the world won't change someone else's opinion. I've often wondered what a lot of other singers would have sounded like, including Tony, had Frank not gotten there first. Simply put, Mr. Bennett is Sinatra up a 3rd & slurred. Easy to say, next door to impossible to do. They're both on the top tier for a reason. There's no reason to split hairs. Btw, it seemed to me you were unaware that Frank recorded this in '54 (released in '55) on what many consider one of his best: In The Wee Small Hours, arranged exquisitely by Nelson Riddle. His singing on the '65 version is as good or better, but the arrangement is schmaltzy, that much I'll grant you.
