Some bozo had a go at me for riding my bike ‘on an ancient monument’, meanwhile there are cows trampling and shitting all over it along with dogs and their owners. I pointed this out to him. Some people just have nothing better to worry about. As long as you respect the countryside there shouldn’t be an issue. Not like your bombing along the trail posing a danger to walkers is it. We just need to share spaces and get along.

@@mtbtrailshredders We sometimes get hikers walking down the middle of Green lanes and not allowing us to pass,this is like walking in the middle of the road.They do this as some kind of protest,but,they end up with 3 or 4 motorbikes behind them for as long as they keep it up,instead of letting us past and we would be gone in seconds…very strange logic ?!?!

Although I did a ride today coming soon….. that I pushed it beyond its limited, a really steep mountain descent !!! Bum touch back tyre to get down it lol

I bought my mtr 8.9 few year back now and can't fault it replaced the wheels as they cracked and the dropper and also an oval chain ring. Some hope bits too and it's a great bike. 👍👌

Great vid, Grizedale is my local and most ridden area. Thank you for showing off some of the good bits to to world. The final descent you did there was once upon a time the black desecent and is known as Boulder Alley.

This is really simple and only a “grey” area if your trying to circumvent the legal position ! Footpaths, people on foot, bridleway, people, horses, bikes ! If you have the land owner’s permission you can ride where they allow you but you would definitely have a duty of care to others using a right of way, this should be respected. There’s a strange sense of entitlement with cyclists and seemingly some ignorance !

This is what i love about the hyper polarisation of the internet. I can spend half my life watching videos of mountain bikers complaining about walkers on their trails, and half my life watching walkers complaining about mtbs on their trails. ....and there's just no reason to do either. Plenty of suitable trails to go around...but everyone determined to put their needs first.

And mountain bikers are always super happy to see walkers on MTB trails aren’t they? Just because you want to ride the footpath doesn’t mean you should. You may have been respectful, but some bikers can be rude and stupid and think nothing of flying down that same path at high speed where walkers are 100% not expecting you to be there. So yeah, it sucks that footpaths are not for cyclists, but there’s plenty of other trails out there.

@@taztaz6539 I haven’t seen what’s happened in Patterdale-feel free to share. I’ve climbed 160 Wainwrights on foot so far and haven’t really noticed anything, to be honest. As for being an environmentalist, I think it means different things to different people. Most of us care about nature but still drive cars, use gas, and rely on plastic-it’s just part of how society functions. The mountains will still be here long after we’re gone.

I hike a lot. And I cycle a lot. On road and off-road. The hiker here is legally correct (assuming he's correct about it being a footpath not a bridleway). Cycling on a footpath is forbidden. Cycling on a bridleway is permitted. The issue with a lot of "it's ok it's slow" stuff is that it's very soon followed by some v poor behaviours on the downhill. Don't shoot me, I've been on both sides. Just be considerate!
