The Fujitsu CTO makes the same mistake that I commented about the DARPA presentation (kzbin.info/www/bejne/inXGfo2Alsafpc0). AI is presented as a steady growth of utilitarian apps and the requirement to match or exceed human intelligence in all minor aspects is assumed prior to any form of control of human organizations. The ethical discussion raises issues but also displays a simplistic and culturally-conditioned understanding of both human and synthetic behavior. Having created and distributed a system architecture to implement self-awareness, I know the first prototypes are just a few years away.

No, do NOT put the trolley problem into systems that are driving cars... the false positives will far outweigh the incredibly small chance of them being called into play, and will just make things less safe, and less reliable in the aggregate. It is just playing to human emotions to say this needs to be there, and its wrong. Avoiding ALL collisions is a better course of action, don't put self driving systems in the business of playing G*d.
