I used to believe capital punishment was “just” in certain situations where the depravity of the crime warrant’s execution. My view has changed. My lord and savior Jesus Christ was executed for his perceived crime’s, why should someone who has murdered others be so lucky. When humans intervene in the perfect justice and wrath of God by disobeying His commands in pursuit of what we think is “just”, we become the evil we despise.

Quite why the scaffold is not on the same side as the door from death row I’ll never understand. The penalty is the forfeit of life. Get on with it. In the UK it was 12 seconds from the “Stand up!” to the Drop. I am implaccably against the death penalty.

Its ironic that America will send a man to his death say for murder, yet shortly before he is hung a priest will attend the condemned and pray with him, maybe even hear confession if he wants that and they will discuss the after life. Seems strange that the system allows this condemned to be told he will go to heaven if he is sorry for his sins when that is where we hope his victims are. If we believe they are on the way to hell, why do they get any religious support?
