What an amazingly articulate, kind, capable, and humble gentleman. Neil was truly one of a kind, and I feel privileged to have lived during the time of his influence.

I was 19 when Counterparts came out… and really my first new album as a proper Rush fan. This was an awesome 30 year reflection on this “new” Rush album.

Even though Neil is gone......we all still have these great sound bites of him talking....explaining....expressing....and just his thoughts on life....music....and all other subjects.I was lucky to see them twice.Which to more advid fans isn't much.....but many never had the chance.I saw Rush in Schererville Indiana at the Omni 41 in May of 1975.That was their Fly By Night tour. Then in 1978 at the Hammond Civic Center.I think that was their Farewell To Kings tour end.At this concert...i saw Neil drop a stick near his floor toms.As a drummer i always watched every drummer at every concert.RIP Neil....you were my mentor and drum hero.

The real deal. These days, artists just record with a cell phone. I think that is good, because their artistry is either there, or it is not. Nothing to hide behind when the talent is not there. Tory Slusher is a good example of what I am talking about.

I find it humorous when people say they 'hate' Rush, often knowing very little about them aside from the few songs they've heard. You'd better do a ton of research on someone before you can unequivocally say you 'hate' them. There's really very little to hate about Rush. 'Dislike' their sound/vocals-maybe, but from all outward appearances, excellent humans!

Omg, I recorded this off the radio back then! Haven't heard it in decades! Thank you! I also remember dialing furiously to try to get a question on the show. I managed it with Little Feat a few years before but no luck this time. Lifer fan. Miss you Neil. RIP.

I'm trying to remember if I ever got through. I was only in my early teens, and it's kind of murky now. I used to get SO nervous whenever I called into the radio and heard that ominous beep when they answered my call. Now I want to go through my old cassettes to see if I recorded myself on the radio.

Ahhh I am so happy to hear him. I'm sure he's happy, I am 29, I thank him so much for all since my childhood and my high school era. Subdivisions was a big part and helped me so much, as the other songs too in different times of my teenage years. Thanks Neil ❤Love you man. I feel like listening to this show live on my radio, so nice but also so sad. He was a truly musical genius. Thanks for sharing!

Rush's 90s output is very hot or miss for me. You have the very underwhelming Roll The Bones, the far more awesome Counterparts, and then Test For Echo which is both. However, when I hear the stuff from this era, I get incredibly nostalgic. And, after all, it's Rush. I'll take anything from this band over what might be considered great music from many other bands.

That was such a strange era of RUSH. Most of it, at least what I think, was Geddy’s use of the Wal bass and the rest of the band having to adjust their sound to match it. But I understand that Geddy probably felt that the Wal bass and similar were the future and he was getting himself ahead of the game

@@MyVideos-fm7ug Ironically, Roll The Bones is one of my least favorite Rush albums. Other than Dreamline, the album does little for me. However, I'd go back to those days in a heartbeat

Here in northern WV late 80’s until around 1997, most Friday and Saturday nights meant listening to 89.5 … it was an unidentified radio station, likely operating unlicensed, that would play entire albums. And he mostly played live Grateful Dead and RUSH And he, whoever he was, played a LOT of it. He would play a lot of other stuff that you never heard of as well. Especially local Morgantown bands that had made a record or two and were trying to get some level of air play The person running the station never spoke, or anything like that. Just played music beginning around 7 or 8, then ran it into the early morning around 5. 89.5 was especially cool having the whole “mysterious” factor. You couldn’t help but wonder who it was that was running it. But it could have been anybody. The station ceased around 1997, maybe a little later. I left for the army in fall of 1997, so… sone time around then

Great post, unfortunately not the complete show. I recorded the live show on Digital Audio Tape with songs and commercials edited out. I'm sure it would be pulled down if I posted it. And yes, the first caller fawned over Neil making him very uncomfortable. A nice exchange between Bob and Neil at the beginning about Neil's name pronunciation.
