Why not just make a 1 to 1 inverter to do the same thing? It would be more user friendly, but I'm open to the explanation. In my mind, an inverter that costs 5 bucks gets made into a 2 in one and the resulting inverter costs 10 bucks, then all you're doing is reinventing the wheel. The explanation of "you're dealing with more hardware," is negated by "yeah, and less workability, less play in the strings, zero ability to do odd numbered strings, and for what? 20 more lbs and a bigger wind sail on my back as an installer. Obviously, I'm old school, but to me, this smaks of a not-broken thing being "fixed"... alongside the way things have been getting done for decades + one mod, one micro... and a much more user-friendly install.

DS-3 Apsystems Micro inverter interference on the 27mc band on USB/LSB can be heard as beeps, and on FM as noise. It is also audible during the day when the sun is not shining, but only when it is dark outside do you no longer hear it. This interference on the 27 MHz band was received wirelessly from the air on a pocket scanner. (translated with Google) .

Not sure where to start, loyal string inverter installation company, SMA and Fronius, transitioned to Sol-Ark when for backup and off-grid, when we could no longer rationalize grid-tied was the only way to go in Texas. The long delayed intro of the new platform is welcome, but find it very underwhelming, a disappointment is more accurate. No parallel capability out of the gate, 7.7 max, one battery supplier, which he didn't say would be available, still hawking the SPS like it's off-grid alternative. The best thing I can say about the new model is that we get 15A per MPPT. So essentially, it's still a grid-tied sale, with option of becoming a big boy hybrid system in the future for those that can wait. Poo Poo

An approach others take is to rush products into the market place without good design, testing, manufacturing and over sell, over promise and under deliver, those products creating reliability and support issues for the customer. Other brands may offer more, and perhaps even for less cost, but I wont install those at my house.

I don't particularly appreciate that the SMA inverter is a battery brand-specific component. There are plenty of good same-chemistry (LiFePO 4) batteries out there that have the ability to safely and effectively interface with SMA. Many folks have them and should be able to buy an SMA and simply connect without investing in a proprietary battery.

Holy delay Batman! I've been a loyal SMA installer since 2008 and have been waiting 1-1/2 years to get availability of ANY SMA residential product. I believe in SMA quality and design philosophy but they are killing themselves in the marketplace. I can't yet even get the actual installation manual to find out the details of how the battery backup capability works..... 2kW of battery backed power is not enough to justify the expense of batteries.

This is probably the nicest and best AC coupled whole home backup solution on the market at a competitive price. This is definitely the way to go for existing solar installs to add batteries. It is far more competitive in price than the Enphase system and is solar system agnostic ie. it doesn't care what kind of existing solar setup you have. Franklin system is genuinely nice!

You know what would be really interesting? A 400V DC system (+-200V). Here are some things to consider: 1. Your EV is likely able to charge at ~400V DC. Even going up to 800V, it is a simple DC-DC voltage doubler. As voltages between your car and house if you have 400V DC will not actually at the same voltage and 400V DC is really referring to a voltage range with 400V being more of a nominal or max voltage, you could use a compact, cheap, and efficient DC-DC buck-boost converter to charge your car. You can also use that buck-boost converter in reverse to power your home. Changing an EV can be a big power draw, so if you can pull power directly from the home batteries connected to solar panels, that would be a very effective way to charge your EV. 2. Solar panels can be hooked up in series to produce 400V DC. You feed this through an MPPT controller and have a very efficient transfer of power from the solar panels and into your battery. With #1, it is a very cheap and efficient process to go from solar panel to home battery to EV. 3. Inverter based HVAC heat-pump systems are far more efficient than other means of heating and cooling all the way down to freezing temperatures. If the HVAC system ran off of 400V DC, you are taking out the conversion hardware to go from AC to DC power in the HVAC unit and allowing it to run straight off of solar and battery power. Essentially, you are eliminating conversion steps when running off of solar where you would normally go from DC solar to AC power to DC battery to AC main power to DC power and then drive the inverter to run the HVAC unit and instead just going DC - DC - DC all around the same voltage with very little loss along the way. 4. In such a system you can have AC bypass for grid power and a DC charger at the same time keeping the DC system from running out of energy (keep the batteries from going dead). When the AC grid goes down, you immediately switch over to have the power inverter driving the AC stuff in your home UPS (uninterruptible power supply) style. The beauty of this system is your AC inverter is much smaller because big ticket items can easily run off of 400V DC directly and so the AC inverter only needs to power small items. At this, the DC items are directly connected to the main home battery and so will see zero disruption whatsoever. 5. When you get to the generator component, it just puts out DC power to charge the battery. Normally in an inverter-generator you create DC power to run an inverter and size up to handle peak load. In this setup the generator only needs to be sized to keep the home battery from going dead and the battery handles the instantaneous and peak loads in a power outage. Especially when you look at say a 20 kW standby generator spinning at 3,600 RPM and your average usage over 24 hours is say 1 kW, but you need the 20 kW for peak demand, that is a whole lot of waste in an under-utilized generator over 90% of the time spinning much faster than it needs to for its actual power output in order to produce 240V at 60 Hz because any other speed and it is not generating that voltage nor that frequency. If instead say the generator is sized down to say generating 3 kW of DC efficiently and maybe ramps up and down some while charging the home battery based on battery voltage and matching the generator DC output to battery voltage while charging and then the battery ensures 24 hour power even when the generator is off, that is far more efficient than say a 20 kW generator spinning at 3,600 RPM around the clock in order to handle peak loads and leave no gaps in power delivery. While engine RPM is only a certain range, so is battery voltage and battery voltage is a reasonably narrow range. You could even have a night time mode where you make sure the battery is sufficiently charged before bedtime in a power outage and the generator shuts off for the night with all night time power coming from batteries. That is certainly better than hearing your generator thrumming away all night, especially if you want to open a window for ventilation.

A lot of things can go wrong. I'm disappointed to hear of the many long term issues with solar. There are a lot of people pursuing a lawsuit against solar companies, who didn't make repairs after they broke, which happens a lot. Let's look for something else an energy source.

😮‍💨 🤪 Hello Dude, The new solar solution: now brand new without phase control: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ-4l3t8qNlnisU, the dimmer solution, is the cheapest and most economical and only costs 1/10 of other PV systems. Increase your own solar power consumption or balcony power plant to save a lot of electricity costs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3SVoJ-YeKebnpI. Avoiding purchasing electricity from the grid will shorten the payback period. With dimmer + solar PV, self-sufficiency can now increase to almost 95%. It's that easy to suppress expensive grid purchases. The electricity bill stops just like the electricity meter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/emq2pGOIqtaNfZI Kettle: Without a dimmer you need a 2500W - 600W PV system = 1900W which you have to pay more for. If I control the kettle down to 600W using a dimmer, then any PV system that is too weak can now supply every consumer itself and self-sufficiently, because the 2500W kettle becomes a 600W kettle thanks to the dimmer. No magic, just physics. How it works: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYCco6pvl7qYl5o. The prerequisite is that you have at least one small solar PV balcony power plant. You don't need an expensive battery. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6unm6SQpd9qbbc The 2000W electric heater is turned into a 500W electric heater via dimmer, which I can run for free for 12 hours a day via PV. It is not the solar systems that have to grow, but the peak currents of the integrated device heaters simply have to decrease by 75%. With the dimmer / voltage controller it has become so easy. I have already converted my entire household (2020) to 4x dimmers. Please take a look at my channel. ... 🌦... Increase mini PV solar self-sufficiency (winter and camping): You can continuously turn down a boiler and other power-hungry electricity consumers using a "5000W dimmer". eBay €7. I run 4 dimmers in parallel on an 850W inverter. My 2.2KW 150W kettle runs 12 hours a day, so the water is always hot. The room is also nicely heated. 2.5KW washing machine runs in parallel with dimmed to 400...600W and always reaches its 60°C, and also its 1400rpm... The washing machine doesn't care whether it sets the washing temperature expensively in 5min@2500W or 100% can be reached free of charge using existing PV electricity in 20 minutes @ 600 W. The wash cycle always takes the same time, dimmed and undimmed, 3 hours 10 minutes. The iron kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2iUoH9tr5aeg7c, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqfRcp6oiJarY9U, electric heater, kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5OviHeYf85pm9k, waffle iron kzbin.infoofanZCdYEjA?feature=share , all of my internal heating is throttled like this. Lots of videos about this on my channel. The inverter stays cool, quiet and the MOSFETs + (batteries) stay intact because extreme total currents no longer arrive at the inverter. Now any mini PV inverter is enough to operate large devices. With the dimmer, all internal heaters/devices can be converted into base-load devices that remain almost permanently ON and only draw a small amount of power directly from the PV. You can then easily measure this with a wattmeter/energy cost meter in order to optimally adjust the dimmer. .... 🌞 .... "smart energy saving", has made a meaningful reaction explanation video about the dimmer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3nXe3qfjaadkM0. 👌... More videos about this on my channel. 🌞 Greetings Christian
