Just Imagine if fat boy Chrystie didn’t block it when he was governor . Conservative Republicans sometimes let their zeal to cut state funding get in the way of critical infrastructure projects. and what the hell is more critical than portal bridge replacement?? ask the thousands and thousands of riders stuck on trains or the sweltering heat in Penn station when the bridge won’t close

Hype and complaining from a maritime company. The waterway is restricted by the construction activity, out of necessity, but not blocked.

Huge shout out to all the UNION (and not yet union) men and women who, through their dedicated and skilled labor, are going to massively increase throughput and connectivity to the economic heart of this country, such a desperately needed massive capacity increase in the Northeast corridor heading into NYC from NJ, thank you so much for all your work. It cannot be overstated how huge this is in conjunction with the construction, renovation and increase of capacity in the Hudson tunnels.

This is insane. They are actually finishing the project on schedule and ahead of time. This just goes to show that infrastructure delays in America are not a skill issue but a planning issue. If project management isn’t bloated and handled well with lots of direct construction involvement from the transit authorities we get get things built quicker with tighter budgets.
@nolantherailfan504812 күн бұрын
Even better. It's over 70% complete and is due to be completed by the end of 2025 and the first train to cross the bridge in early 2026

Unfortunately that's strictly under NJT's control whereas the Portal Bridge is owned by Amtrak, and thus the Federal government.

Love seeing this! Curious to see how they put the "arches" into place, hope that is recorded as well. It's too bad the new "Gateway" tunnels will take about 10 years to complete. I have seen so much construction of "Luxury" rentals all along the Raritan Valley Line (South/North Ave, Plainfield) and North East Corridor (Elizabeth Ave, Linden/Rahway).
