The rarest type of railroad crossings that people never get to see are the grey ones

I've always had a fascination for these signals, though I have to say that I've never come to grips with e-bells. Maybe I'm just having an off day, but it seems like most of the bells in this video are grating my nerves worse than usual. 😬

These pedestrian railroad crossing signals at the Downtown Burbank Metrolink station were actually installed possibly around the late 1990's. It's true that the crossing signals were originally equipped with mechanical bells (from Safetran), but also they were originally equipped with incandescent warning lights too. Around the mid-2000's, the crossing signals' incandescent warning lights were replaced with the current Dialight Ball LED warning lights. And actually, it was around the late 2000's when the crossing signals' original mechanical bells were replaced with the current high-pitched Safetran Type 3 electronic bells.

Southern Pacific 5021 is another beautiful steam locomotive. Even it’s whistle too. It’s now one of only two surviving American 4-10-2 steam locomotives. The other being the experimental Baldwin 60000. It was cool that it was used in excursion service back then, and although it’s kinda sad that it wouldn’t be returning to operation soon we can be glad that it’s still preserved to this day. Back in good condition. Quite amazing.

I heard a kid injured her ankle severely at this outdoor railroad museum on 2/10/2024. Leave your kids alone for one single minute, and they'll climb all over locomotives and cars, and fall or jump to an extremely painful injury. Some of those locomotives have the words "Keep off" written on them; there has to be a reason for that.
