Well hello Chris - there's a name from out of the past! Yes, I'm still enjoying life - I took early retirement almost 10 years ago and have spent a lot of that time either on holidays with my wife or biking trips and journeys with my motorcycling friends. In 2023 I'm off to an adventure bike ride down through Spain and Portugal as well as a longer road motorcycling trip all the way down through Europe to Slovenia and back, as well as local trail riding with my friends in the local Trail Riders Fellowship group. (TRF). So - what about you? Cheers, Steve.

Lovely video. This is my local TET section and it's what got me into greenlaning on my 1985 XT600 Tenere and a 1999 Honda Transalp 600! Even though I've ridden it hundreds of times on various bikes it's great to see videos of people riding these lanes and hopefully inspires some people to come and explore it themselves! Keep up the good work!

Hey, nice video! Still enjoying your 790? How has the suspension held up? Which forks + rear shock did you go for? I'm thinking of doing the same upgrade to mine.
@streakyone2 жыл бұрын
HI, I went Andreani springs on the front and a Hyperpro shock on the back. The change made a big difference in the feel of the bike when riding on rougher trails - smoothed things out a lot more than on oem settings. The rear shock change also felt more like you were sitting on a rounded seat where you bum went - sort of strange to explain but a much better connection with the rear end of the bike. As to the bike, loved it on the road - also great offroad - did the TET Great Western Trail last June and the Welsh TET last September, but since sold the bike and changed it for a KTM 690 which I think will sort the sort of riding I'm planning for the future.

hi i live in Andover so right on the plains doorstep and own a Benelli TRK502X adventure bike ,are there any clubs i could join or groups that ride the plains on bikes like yours?..only ones i can find are road legal enduros..thanks
@streakyone3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, being Vice Chair of Wiltshire TRF - Trail Riders Fellowship, I'd suggest you look at joining the TRF , look online at our Facebook page, join, then choose Wiltshire as your main group, you'll then get on to our Private FB group where rides and events are posted up. You can also post up " I'm a new member is there anyone who can take me out" and there are quite a few members in your area. I can take you out on suitable trails in the Marlborough, Aldbourne area as trails on the Plains during winter are lethal and slippery due to chalk so as I'm presuming you're new to green lining it might be better to start where trails aren't so slippery. Your membership goes to legal costs to keep greenlanes open and to have access to lots of different events around the country. If you want to chat to two of our members then pop into Burbidges Bakery in Andover where Steve and Becky are the owners and members of the TRF. Hope this helps - if/ when the weather improves and you fancy a trial ride based around Devizes contact me and I'll take you out. Steve

Great video. I also have a 790 adventure question for you. I get crazy wind buffering on my helmet. I bought the puig tiring windscreen. Still lots of wind slapping my helmet around. What is that extension on your windscreen? And does it help. I’m 6’1”
@streakyone3 жыл бұрын
HI, its just a cheap extension I bought off of Ebay 4 years ago to use on the Africa Twin I had at the time. I find it cuts out a lot of the wind I used to get on my shoulders as well as on the helmet. I know a lot of owners have made comments about the screen and buffeting, quite a few have added a screen like this one as well as taking off the plastic side pieces under and either side of the headlight unit - they seem to find this also reduces the amount of wind and buffeting - I haven't done this as I feel ok now but it might be something you might also try?

@markdormer79593 жыл бұрын
Fair play, but you're gonna put someone at risk (not just yourself). Maybe some tough reds and a coupla tequilas before you do that again. Confidence affects your technique, and you were shtting it. Command the hill, get facing the bottom and move your skis, not your shoulders... Square up to the bstard, lean out of the hill not into it, and you'll get there soon enough. We've all bricked it, and that's how we grow. If you don't get the fear then you're inside the comfort zone. So, build up some more experience on tough reds, at speed, with bumps... Then get back on it.

Thank you for your videos. What size oxford heated grips did you put on your 790? Were they the "adventure" size? I want to make sure I order the correct size for mine.
@streakyone3 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes they were the Adventure ones - you have to be careful as my memory tells me you have to cut and shape the end that goes into the ride by wire end so it fits the lugs that the original throttle slips into - this took a fair amount of time planning where the cut outs in the Oxford grips should go using the original grip as a guide - measure twice and cut once - although all good when finished.

The Wiltshire group I'm part of is very active and is a great place to make friends, share ideas and join in with a wide range of rides.
