I got lost halfway through the final two movies in the series tbh. For me it felt like the last two movies were kinda rushed and I couldn’t tell what was going on cause it would be a new scene every time I just grasped the previous. The first two movies I loved and the last who I couldn’t understand. I literally forgot that Gale killed Prim because I got that lost in the last two films. I just started reading the first book and I intend to finish the books so I get a better grasp of what happened

He is not a saint, neither in the books nor in the films. As you said, the story is not about the romance. The bomb being his is a consequence of the work he had been developing over the weeks in district 13. He decided to use the same morality as the enemy, and that was the consequence. That bomb is not just a bomb. It is specially designed to attack heroes, people who have compassion, and will help others. He created bombs that TARGET THE HUMANITY IN PEOPLE.

im sorry, your opinion is your opinion, but I have to respectfully disagree. When I saw the movie, it was beautiful. The lighting wasn't bad at all. I think that the slighltyly muted colors does add realism, and it also makes sure that Glinda's outfit doesn't look like a barbie doll, and Elphaba's skin doesn't look plastic. When I saw the original, don't get me wrong it was incredible, but because of the nature of a musical, character arcs were kinda rushed. In this movie, the pacing was perfect. I fully understood each and every little detail and backstory for each character. But it also wasn't so dragged out that I got bored. All of the logic was completely logictistical, and yes, they did a wonderful job translating the script from broadway to the screen. I do agree on the cinematography though. I wish they could have had less robotic camera movements, and more compelling scene ratios. Dont get me started on the acting or singing. Cynthia Erivo's projection and sound quality was gorgeous. When I heard Ariana was playing Glinda, I thought it was going to be another Amazon Prime Video"s Cinderella (it sucked). But I was completely surprised. Ariana Was amazing.

Have you seen all the hate this movie is getting? It's being called anti american or woke garbage. Especially since they casted a black as a protag. Also a lot of people hate ari. So no, i dont think this movie is overhyped. Its a musical. It's automatically niche.

Thankfully someone finally has an objective take on the movie. I have watched a lot of reviews for this and I think you are like the only 2nd negative review I've seen which is just honestly so odd. The fact that it is currently rated higher than Wizard of Oz is baffling.

Yes, it's overhyped for me, like Barbie.

I don’t really think we should have any big opinions on the movie yet because only half of the play was released. Many people who haven’t seen the broadway would feel like it’s lacklustre when it’s not even half of the story yet

I totally agree. I couldn't tell what it was, but I was completely underwhelmed during the entire movie. I enjoyed the Dancing Through Life segment and I did get teary-eyed during Defying Gravity. But the pacing felt weird to me, and I felt like the choreography was lackluster. I did remember they sang most live, so I can sort of forgive it. But now I'm wondering if it wasn't the choreography I had issues with, but the cinematography in general. But also, I was so let down with The Wizard and I. The vocals were good - absolutely fantastic during the last bit. But like...what was she doing the entire time? Nothing interesting was happening besides the light changing once during the degreenify you part. And then she just runs into a field for the end? I was so underwhelmed by that. I was also expecting so much more from Popular, but it was just a bunch of props popping up and down multiple times. I still think both actresses did great, and the vocals were fantastic. I know I have a minority opinion, but I'm still excited to see Part 2, and I will most likely give this film another shot. See if maybe I can get past the "underwhelming" feeling I had.

Hey i did enjoy the movie but yes i agree it was slightly overhyped. Its also my very first expirience with wicked and and the whole lore of the wizard of Oz. I do enjoy musicals a lot as long they give me great musical numbers with that i have an 80% satisfaction. When it comes to musicals doesnt matter if the story has plot holes or not perfectly constructed. I care the most about the musical numbers and a great soundtrack. But ughhh it really pissed me off a film cut into 2 parts. It breaks the flaw. I give them credit for cutting it in a good moment but i cant deal with watching a film cut in 2 parts it infiurates me.

As a fan that never saw the Broadway musical (and only knew defying gravity and popular) but is a huge fan of the OG Wizard of Oz, I think that gives it a bit of a different bias. I thought the pacing made sense for a cinematic adaptation, otherwise it would've felt rushed and empty. Seriously, it didn't even feel like a 3 hour movie which I feel is a good thing! And from what I heard, it gave the musical a fresh breath of life so it's not just a near-copy-paste of the Broadway show. I didn't notice the lighting, though I'm not a cinematographer, so I feel I can't truly judge that and the movie still seemed pretty colorful and magical to me! I wholly think it was worth the praise. Sure, it wasn't a masterpiece but I think they did amazingly.

I respectively disagree. I will admit I never got the chance to see it live on stage, so perhaps that's where my point of view stems from, but I was completely immersed. I don't know what you're talking about with camera work, because I was able to focus on the action like I was watching a stage production. I loved it, I'm sorry you didn't walk away feeling the same.

Finally, someone who relates! I saw this movie the day after it came out, and the whole movie was sooo slow. I felt like the costuming and sets and CGI was so beautiful but every shot felt so basic like something id seen before. Coming out it seemed like the movie had absolutely no film direction, apart from following the source material. Imo film adaptations need to make some deviations from the source material to make them the most effective in a different format. Also way too long lol😅

I agree with a lot of your thoughts! I teared up a couple in parts, but I also do when I listen to the Og soundtrack and in the theater. I think tha't emotion is attributed more to the storyline and meaning than this particular version of Wicked. But I loved the casting, songs, staying true to the story I guess my thing was aesthetic too and lighting choices and camera works. I was telling my sister that the stage production had such a looming eeriness to it that was lost in the movie slightly. I'm really excited for the Act 2 movie

I admit that the adaptation from the book does not give Gale justice for how truly anger driven he is, but movie Gale holds a special place in my heart

I fully agree with the pacing criticism. I've seen the stage production 3 times and each time I sobbed. I was fully expecting to have the same reaction here but... Nope. The pacing of drawing out defying gravity and a few other songs broke instead of built on the emotional build-up for me. It was fun to watch, but the stage shows are still better
@dropoutjacob21 күн бұрын
@@katherinemclean1448 yes, especially with Defying Gravity! Cynthia Erivo still gave an incredible performance, but the moment where she’s falling and she sees herself as a child in the reflection just didn’t emotionally resonate the way they intended it to, and it completely messed with the pacing

You put all the thoughts I had about this movie into words! I have been irked so much by how much praise this movie is being given, since I haven’t been able to feel any sort of excitement or joy looking at trailers and clips… I thought it might just be me not being big on ‘Wicked’ as a whole, but you voiced what else irked me greatly. Great video!

Gale is meant ro represent how far rage can take you if you sont have the balance of empathy. Gale represents anger and Peeta represents empathy, both are forms of rebellion but one is clearly desturctive and destroys the manisfestation of innocence, Prim.
