I am into analog photography and have tried compact cameras like the Minolta AF-SV, Olympus Mju Zoom, Yashica T AF, and Yashica Mini Super. Among these, the Yashica cameras were the worst performers. The Yashica T5, in particular, delivers a very mediocre performance. So far, the Olympus Mju Zoom series and Canon ML 35 have been the best in terms of image quality. Yashica T3, T4, and T5 are definitely not worth their price. If you want great image quality in a small camera, you should absolutely go for an SLR. Stick to models like the Canon T70 or the Olympus OM series, paired with a 1.4 lens.

I wanted to thank you. I've been shooting portraits since 2012, as a hobby at first. In 2017 I took a trip to NYC with a Canon DSLR. There I met a photographer named Jean-André Antoine. He introduced me to some old packfilm cameras and I fell in love with the analog look. But to my great disappointment, Fuji FP100C was already discontinued at that time and it wasn't an option for me because of that. Then I tried to learn what kind of camera could give me some large negatives for portraits. That's when I found your channel and your unbelievably cool and beautiful portraits (I also found Platon's work but the Hasselblad route didn't tempt me). I got me an RZ67. As of today, I have gathered (sometimes at great cost) a pretty nice kit I use to shoot the most amazing images I've made so far. I have the 110mm, the 50mm, the 140mm Macro, the 180mm (my first one, I love it), several backs (120, 645 and Instax Square), the very rare microprism focusing screen (I sold a kidney for this piece of plastic), the AE prism with the diopter. I went back to NYC last year and this year. I realized I was ready to earn some serious money with my skills and this camera when a worldwide famous DJ/Music magazine offered me $3000 for 5 retouched photos with all expenses covered and when professional models with impressive references answered my little TFP ads on various semi-pro platforms. Two weeks ago, I did a shoot in Manhattan with a model from Brazil and for the first time I didn't experience the imposter syndrome... I thought to myself: I'm alone in NYC, about 6000km from home, shooting an international model from Brazil who seem to think my work is worthy of interest enough to not ask for money for the shoot. And all this started with a video of you shooting Maddie a few years ago. Who knows, maybe in a near future I can quit my day job and make a living of this...

Nice video but man the Mamiya RZ67 Pro is such a clunky camera to use, that's why I used a Hasselblad for large format!

Hi. Love your work. I am from Portugal (Lisbon ) and I buy a rz67 with 110mm yesterday. Whant to ask you: do you use any filter with your mamiya 110mm 2.8. ? (uv or protection). Thanks.

Every time i hear "this is the camera I take when I don't want to think" in an analog camera review I think what a shitty photographer you might be to say that...all these hipsters passing as professional photographers on KZbin. My point is once you understand the basics of photography you don't need to be afraid for having some extra drinks and taking pictures with an exakta at 3 am in poorly lit pub, all photos come out good and you are fast enough, point and shoots were always a thing for aficionados but you can not remember that since you were not born yet.

I'm using rz67. What lens is the second one? Didn't the shutter speed slow down much at the end of the video with iso400 (400H)? What is the minimum shutter speed for a steady photo with the rz67? Lastly, thank you so much for your videos.

What made you choose the Pentax 67 as opposed to a Mamiya 67 or a Fuji 67? How do you like the 6x7cm aspect ratio compared to the 6x4.5 ratio?

The SFX with its extended red sensitivity ( into Infra red in fact ), suits the complexion and hair colour of your model as it lifts the tones up. On the other hand I quite like the ones that have a hint of ' Lindberg ' in them. Congrats to you and your team, a very good campaign.

This kind of rig was my gateway to stereo photography over thirty years ago. Pre-internet, I thought I'd invented the technique of taping together two disposables - but then once I was able to get online, I discovered a whole pre-existing subculture of 3D enthusiasts, and bought my first of many dedicated stereo cameras, a Stereo Realist. Fun times.
